  1. I got an email from our grad secretary about something so took the chance to ask her and no, my department hasn't heard anything so in case anyone else was on pins and needles like me lol, it was genuinely a mistake on my supervisor's part and no departments (from what we know so far) have the results yet!
  2. Thank you so much, both you and NewPhDStudent. Yeah, I guess there is no way to really know unless I ask or I wait. Those are pretty much my two options, everything else is conjecture. I guess I'll just go back to doing my daily work and just wait (with the uneasiness in the back of my mind). Back to having fingers crossed I guess!
  3. Yeah, so she was filling out a form for me, like a grad progress form, and she wrote in it that "[student] didn't get SSHRC this year and we are waiting to hear from FRQSC".. and when I asked her she was like "oops, my mistake. I removed the sentence". I want to ask but it feels daunting to go through "oh can you clarify what happened there", especially now that I responded to her and look like I've moved on. Dont get me wrong, I am more than willing to dig it back up if needed lol and perhaps that's what I should do to put this to rest in me, but I'm just so confused by what happened ya know? :S
  4. So did my supervisor actually make a mistake and she doesn't know? *sad face* The struggle is real
  5. All this about no other departments knowing is really messing with my head. I want to email my advisor to clarify and ask her to fess up but... blargh
  6. I'm not super surprised because that wasn't a good proposal that I submitted. But like, every year, I feel like we all feel that... Anyway, I'd rather not share too much about my research to keep it anonymous still, sorry! It's in clinical psychology.
  7. My advisor accidentally let it slip and then retracted it -- which is a mindfuck of its own. But for the sake of my sanity, I am going to stick with it wasn't a mistake in what she said but that she said it. But yeah, they aren't supposed to tell us but they have it, 99.9% sure.
  8. Just a note, my department had my result (didn't get it), so hopefully soon we should have official SSHRC notifications!
  9. Also gonna say end of the week!
  10. Wow. Very nice! What are you, an academic or something??
  11. The things that admin people go through because of grad students' anxiety... ?
  12. This disorganization doesn't cause me added anxiety at all... No sir..
  13. Lol, yes, I'm thinking of asking an admin person who has always been super nice to me and told me some things (like results of TA apps) before the announcement. I won't actually harass her, just do something along the lines of what you mentioned -- politely ask. Question is when... ? Probably sometime mid- to late-next week?
  14. Do we know when school admins find out so I know when to start harassing them? ?
  15. Question: On WebApps, my SSHRC app has disappeared. In the infamous heart attack email, it says results will be available on extranet and we'll have a separate email with instructions on how to activate the extranet account. I didn't get this email yet. Is that the same for you guys too and do we have to wait till the result notification to activate/access extranet?
  16. Yeah, that is the trap! It's so tempting to look for an easy fix on the inside because the internal work is much more painstaking and takes way longer! ? But what I've also learned from 6 years or so of grad school and grant apps is that pinning my self-worth on these apps is actually what is the most painstaking. Getting to a point of rather doing the internal work ? Felt like sharing this here, sorry it's off the mark of getting our results. Been on the forum for a while and thought I would add this side-thought!
  17. These applications and the subsequent rejections have been a great life lesson in resilience and perseverance though! The biggest lesson though being not to measure my self-worth based on the outcome. Work in progress. Ouff ?
  18. 11 days till end of April so yes!
  19. 11 more days... until I get my rejection ?
  20. Well that gives me hope. I'm in the first year going into second, but second year applying. Hopefully next year...
  21. Thank you so much My applications have definitely gotten better over the years. And every year I learn what to recalibrate, like you said, a little tweak here and there. One day it'll be enough and things wont be hard financially. Can I ask what year of your PhD you (and others who got funded) are in?
  22. Late afternoon last year for a letter that you didn't get it? (Im assuming since you re-applied this year)
  23. This is so frustrating. I've been applying for years and every year it's the same thing.. Living on peanuts
  24. We can assume that if there was no change yet we didnt get it?
