My mind is telling me to give up on Lehman because of the terrible treatment I received while taking classes there, but my heart tells me I should try one more time. If I do not get into Brooklyn College, I may reapply to Lehman for Spring 2015.

Still nothing for me from Brooklyn College. I am praying to hear good news. They are my last hope. LDadvocate, did you apply to other CUNYs?

LDadvocate, I do not know why I was rejected this time around to be honest. They said in the letter they looked at my application thoroughly and denied me admission. My application was complete all along.

Thanks SSen I am trying to be optimistic. I have not heard back from Brooklyn College. I do not know how to interpret that!

I was just denied admission to Lehman College. It is funny because I received an interview for the Spring 2014 session and flat out denied this time around. My application was still in the admissions office the same day people were being granted interviews. Lehman has left a sour taste in my mouth. I will not reapply. It is Brooklyn College or bust for me. I may have to rethink this career path if I do not get accepted to a CUNY. I simply can not afford thousands of dollars in student loans again at a private university. I already own over 80K in loans. I would be stupid to take out another 60K.

I think what is so heartbreaking is to wait such a long time for a rejection! If a school is or has rejected you, they should send rejection letter out immediately.

That is how I feel when it comes to Lehman. That is why I want to get in so bad. I just want the satisfaction of showing that adviser that I am grad school material. If I do not get in this time around, I will definitely keep trying also LOL! I feel like this is my calling. I have been to an ASHA convention. It is quite an experience. A few years ago it was in Philadelphia. Lehman College had a bus full of students that went. I learned so much...

Me too...I have to admit I partied a little too much in undergrad. I could have done better. LOL

is the 3.2 your overall GPA? My overall GPA for my BA is 3.02. However, for my SLP courses I have a 3.53. Did you take the GRE? I took it twice and did poorly. However, I saw on the results page someone with the exact same GRE scores I got and was granted an interview to Brooklyn College. That made me feel great! The grad deputy assured me that all portions of the applications are taken into consideration. I asked her what could I do to make up for poor GRE score. She told me to submit my application and go from there.

I know how you feel in avoiding the adviser. I tried to do that at all costs. I even requested a new adviser, but was told she was the only one for those taking only the prerequisites. That is very good analogy! Thanks, I will use that if I am granted a second chance. My mother and father were fumed! Both said they are willing to take this to a higher person, if I do not get a second interview. I really was not given a fair shot. I've actually taken a liking to Brooklyn College. The graduate deputy was so helpful in my application completion process. I emailed her so many times. I finally met her in person during an open house. The grad fellows were so happy and really enjoy the program. I would over the moon if I was granted admission to Brooklyn College. Where did you do your undergrad, LDadvocate?

I took my prerequisite courses at Lehman. I actually interviewed with them for the Spring 2014 semester, but was denied after interview, Long story short, the woman interviewing me was my adviser. She had told me several times I would not make it to grad school with my grades. I had attended Lehman over 10 years ago, but transfered to Hofstra U and got my BA there in another field of study. When I told her this and told her I already have a Masters her exact words to me was "I do not know what you are trying to sell me here". I reported her and it went on deaf ears. I spoke to the chairperson and told them if I am granted another interview I wish not to have her as an interviewer! My mother thinks I should have been guaranteed another interview because of the bad history I had with this woman and thought it was unfair that they gave me an interview with her...

LOL All of the CUNYs have excellent programs. So the applications are looked at as they are received? That is kind of a bummer for me in regards to Lehman College. My application was complete although they sent me an email saying it was not. It was only forwarded to the SLP department last Wednesday. I was waiting and my application had not even left the grad admissions office!

I know I only applied to three schools, so my chances are not huge. I was already denied admission to one, but I am still optimistic. I just hope I do not have to sit out a year.

I went to Hofstra U for undergrad and worked in Garden City. I would say Garden City is safe.

Lehman has a great program. Yes, less competitive in Spring.

Lehman College (CUNY Bronx, NY) has spring admission.

Just rejected by Hunter College. I knew they were a long shot.
