I heard Coast has a 2 year waiting list! But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I visited there last year and was THISCLOSE to going. Some exciting things are coming out of UNL and the faculty and young and committed! It would be a great place to end up. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Can the Vanderbilt applicant who posted this on the results PM me? "Email notification from director indicating that I am on the waitlist and admission is dependent upon students declining their offer. If admitted I will also have funding..." I got the same email and had a question about your process! Thanks!

At least you have a Wait list. I got rejected from both within 20 minutes. Ha ha. Hang in there! The right thing will happen.

Congratulations! Also received my email today. Breathing a huge sigh of relief and looking forward to visit weekend/funding details.

Vanderbilt applicants...several rejections on the results search reference the website. A. What made you check? Email? Hunch? B. Mine still says Submitted, so I'm guessing I'm in limbo here. Anyone else waiting a verdict?

They said they were aiming for some time this week.

Saw the UNC admit and instantly "throw up in your mouth" feeling from last year. Bummed about UT-Austin...but hoping my UCLA admit is just one of the later ones. Or I'll hit refresh and see something from UNC. in the mean time....deep breaths, y'all. Nothing we can do but wait!

Just completed my 11th application! Currently on a research trip in South Africa and hoping all of the amazing energy I'm feeling translates to some positive results. Good luck everyone!

At most places, a GRE score won't make or break you, unless there is a huge discrepancy in your two scores or if the scores are way out of line with the department. Scores like this will likely ensure that your app will be read any places where you apply, which is a good thing. There are no departments where this would be slam dunks....it's really more about the materials that you put together. Oh and it's not that unusual to switch into Soc. It's a field that welcomes and collaborates with many others. Good luck!

I agree...maybe less of us applying this year? I feel like I've handled the process MUCH better than last year. Maybe because I'm spending less time freaking out on these boards? Good luck, my co-reapplier. (Is that a word?)

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a good season so far. I've been really quiet this year because this board totally contributed to my neurosis last year. That said, I feel much better prepared this year than last. I have completed 8/10 applications. Two of my LORs were a little late on a few of the 12/1 deadlines, but I suppose that's out of my control. I'm planning to stay on them throughout the next few weeks for my remaining deadlines. I plan to complete my final 2 after tweaking my final statements to fit these programs better. (They have a slightly different research focus than the other 8) Good luck to all!

I called last week. They expected to be sending out decisions this week.

Sooooooo.....I'm not accepted at Stanford. But I'm not rejected. Does this mean waitlist? Or maybe they are notifying in waves and my answer is coming soon...anyone else in the same boat?

Have you checked the results page? Enter the name of the school and program and see if any results come up for 2014. If not, look at the dates of notification from previous years. Good luck!

I got my first acceptance! Still waiting on 9 schools on my list left to notify, but I feel like a ton of bricks has been lifted. I have the option to end up somewhere!

I read it as..."a small percentage of a large group of truly worthy applicants" meaning that a lot of us WERE truly worthy but they just couldn't fit us all.

Just got my first rejection from Boulder. Would have preferred my first admissions decision be a positive one, but I feel surprisingly fine. School was the least strong fit for my interests and I had a feeling this one was coming. Still a weird feeling to be rejected...but I feel okay.

I've been trying to calm my nerves by avoiding this site as much as possible....but I'm expecting a few decisions today. And is anyone else expecting some of the "big" rejections to come out any time soon? (UCLA, UCB, Stanford) Not that I want that to happen, of course. ;-) Just hoping for some news either way (aka...if you don't get a rejection, you can guess/assume that you are on the waitlist)
