  3. Yeah, in some cases. But mostly, I tend to be fair and give them the grades they deserve (based on their work), even if that means I have to break the rubric laws a little bit. Maybe because I am not a believer of the curving system, I try to give 'just' grades. Sometimes, grading also depends on the class size. For example, if it is a small sized class where I can talk to every student and know them personally/by their names, I also take into consideration how well they know the material vs how poor they've done in the assignments. Although this does not always go well with professors, the kids do appreciate me for taking my stand

  5. merging the discussion to mainstream, i too am driven nuts by the time difference in different zones. and i live in the states!! what a shame, heh? i know it's crazy, but it is crazy, and that's exactly what the situation is. i am in the mountain west time zone, which is 2 hours behind all schools i have applied to. every morning when i wake up (i wake up little late, around 8am, my time), i have high hopes of getting an email from my schools. but nothing. and when the clock hits 3pm here, i feel like a soaked rabbit in the downpour - completely helpless, because it's 5pm at my schools, and all i can do is wait for the next day. which turns out to be the same as yesterday. waiting freaking sucks!

  8. same here. worse, my project is halted because a manufacturer hasn't shipped out the materials yet. so i am helping my advisor by doing other research works for which he has received grants. other than that, i am not making any progress. many schools i applied to took my application money and went into hibernation, feels like. coming home early, going to groceries, checking websites for status updates, etc are the only things that i have accustomed to lately.

  12. Chuck Norris loves waiting it out. Because the anxiety on the faces of the program directors and PoIs, waiting for Chuck Norris' decision, is priceless. Chuck Norris turned down all admission offers because he doesn't like doing re-search. Chuck Norris wouldn't be a good fit for the construction management program because his first and last names rhyme with destruction and demolition, respectively. Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked few schools in the nuts. This cause the schools to lose control of themselves, and that's why they have rolling deadlines. Chuck Norris doesn't dress formal for his interviews. What he wears is made the formal code for other interviewees. If Chuck Norris rejects your program and you cry, you are not called a cry baby.
