Hi Everyone! Congrats to all those accepted this year I am currently in the 2 year MSW @ UofT I just finished my first year. Please feel free to send me a message if you want to chat about the program, I found this forum immensely helpful when I was applying and I would love to try and help anyone out if I can.

Hey everyone! I'm currently in the 2 yr program at UofT. I was wait listed the first time I applied, they don't have your old application saved anywhere but they can tell based on your application number the first 4 numbers are the year you first applied so for me it was 20131022 (meaning October 22, 2013).

Hey there, I'm currently in the 2 year program. I don't know if they've changed the guidelines since I applied last year but I definitely did not have anywhere close to 3500 hours, there is another school I can't remember which one (sorry) but they had that as a guideline for hours. I probably had somewhere around 500 at the time of application (including paid/volunteer hours). Judging by myself and classmates I would say it is true that UofT really does look at the package as a package, I wouldn't say one thing weighs more than the rest. The minimum grade is a strict guideline though so I would not apply without the minimum (I think it is a B or B+?) Best of luck everyone!

Yes, I have never been a student at UofT, I went April 20th (the date is on the card) and I have the card in my possession so I definitely know that I got it I wonder why they would say that :s

Hey! I got mine done at the library about 3 weeks ago. I just brought my acceptance letter (just in case) and driver's license. They asked for the student number and that was it, done within 5 minutes and you get it right away:)

Hey there, for me personally there are a few factors 1. Clinical/Research approach and specializations, these are really big for me, I think that I will get the most out of my education from a school that takes this approach considering my career goals. Also the specialization is something I have been told is a bonus when looking for a job in the clinical field. 2. Placements- they have really amazing options for placements, particularly in the field that I want to go into. This is one of the most exciting aspects of the program for me, I learn better when I am actually on the field doing things so I want a placement where I can really absorb and get the most out of it so I feel ready for my job one day. 3. Reputation- I know this shouldn't really be something I concern myself with but if I am being honest from all the volunteer/work positions I have done in the past, supervisors have told me that UofT is well respected and held in high regard. I don't personally agree with ranking schools in that system (any MSW is a great MSW!) but from what I have seen people subconsciously do it even if they don't admit it. 4. Professors/ Faculty- Many of the faculty have completed research in fields that I am incredibly interested in. Regardless of whether I pursue research I want to have the opportunity to learn from people who are experts in their field. 5. Location- it's close to home! I will say that one downside about the program is probably going to be class size compared to, for example, York where the classes are very personal and small. I think the second year of the program is rather large with 140 2 year students being combined with the advanced standing so you have upwards of 200 students which is rather large. I am hoping there will be opportunities to work in smaller group environments but none the less the other factors definitely outweigh that!

Thanks for the reply aay! I went to UofT today and got my T-card made and my e-mail is registered. I also got the OAN number they said the forms will be available online in late April or the beginning of May

From what I understood, in June we will receive a email with more information about registering courses. I saw on ROSI there is a tab where you can register for courses so I am assuming that email will explain in more detail how exactly this is done. To bounce off your question, do you get the T-card on site the same day? I am taking a day off work on Monday to go to campus and get my OAN number/password for OSAP since I can't login and I wanted to get the T-card done in the same trip. Also does anyone know how long the OSAP process takes; will I get the money in time for August when fees need to be paid? Thanks!

I did this last year, however I took a risk and ended up changing all 3 references this time around and I guess that paid off. I emailed my original three though and basically said that unfortunately I did not get in however I would be trying again. I explained that I needed to upgrade my application overall by adding some new experiences and that I appreciated all their help in the past and hoped they would be willing to be my reference again For my academic reference I went in person and I did explain it was my second time applying and honestly I think especially people in the field or academics (at least in my experience) will be totally understanding. They've most likely been through something similar and are aware that it is rare to get in the first time, which is what my professor said. I prefer to see professors in person because they go through so many students I wanted to make sure she saw me and made a visual "name to face" connection hopefully it jogged her memory and helped with writing my reference

Yes, this is how I understood it as well. I am taking a day off work on Monday to go get that done as well as some financial stuff Does anyone know, how long it takes an OSAP loan generally before you get it and are able to pay for school. I am nervous about not having the loan in time to pay for tuition in August any help much appreciated Also to add, in case anyone missed it, for those who are going to UofT this Fall but don't have facebook or don't want to use facebook I made a group here on gradcafe, I'd love to continue keeping in contact with you all through the forum but no facebook account for me

Hey there, I would call or e-mail Angela tomorrow, she said all responses were mailed out already. It might still be in the mail if you live out of province, regardless Mid-April has past so I would call to see what is going on Last year she scanned and e-mailed me my wait-list letter because it got lost in the mail.

Hey everyone, Does anyone know if there is a way to confirm the 150$ deposit has been received? I sent it today but I'm not a former uoft student so I'm not sure where to actually check. Thanks!

For the wait list @ uoft I don't know how many people are on it because when I tried to ask last year they would not say or tell the "rank" on the list either. But I remember one person getting in August so there's always a chance! take the wait list as an accomplishment in itself it means you are on the right track.

Thank you for this explanation I'm going crazy over here because they mailed my acceptance to the wrong address and Angela just remailed it yesterday, I was worried when I didn't get it today but I guess I can expect it on Monday ( I'm in Etobicoke ) I hate not having it and not being able to do anything without it after such a long wait

Can someone who has been accepted to UofT's 2 year program please tell me how long you have to accept the offer (also is it mailed in or accepted through an online system)? I found out that it was mailed to my old address and the resident sent it back to UofT! If anyone knows who I can contact aside from Angela please let me know, because I have been trying to reach her for 3 days already Thanks!

Hey there not sure if you have already browsed through the other forums here (regarding the application process) they have a ton of information about applying/stats from other applicants too: I read through all the years' forums when I was applying and it really helped me see where to improve As far as my GPA I went to York so it was a little weird, York does not give A-'s so for the courses that were considered part of my application I had all A's except 2 B+'s including an A in my research methods course. As for experience, last year I was wait-listed so I took from April- December this year to really boost my application with volunteering. In addition to a year and a half of mentoring done in my undergrad I also added 3 new volunteer positions and a part time job at uoft as a research assistant.

I hope so! I moved in January so I have a very strong feeling it was mailed to my old address the person there has been mailing everything back to sender so hopefully if uoft gets it back they will confirm the address. I just want to press accept!
