  1. From the sounds of her response it sounds like only the acceptances were mailed out yesterday, not the rejection letters. I hope all of the decisions were mailed out, not just the acceptances.
  2. Yes, it is just for the advanced standing. Advanced standing programs always hear before the 2 year programs.
  3. Got the mail, no letter yet. I know 1 day is a bit fast but I was really hoping the wait was finally over. Sigh.
  4. Thanks, that means a lot to me. I also have two girls (younger than my son) so it is certainly crazy busy! But I am determined to get there, and I hope that shone through in my application.
  5. Wow, you have tons of experience! I definitely don't have anything like that. I did explain why I have less experience in my written statement though (I have a son, who I had right after high school, with multiple disabilities and I was home with him working intensively on his therapies until he was able to enter school at age 8 and then I went back to school) so hopefully they will be understanding. I have 5 years of experience on a sexual assault crisis line and then my practicum this year which is also in the area of violence against women (sexual assault and domestic violence as well as multiple public education campaigns). As for education I have a BA in Social Development Studies with a minor in Women's Studies and I am currently doing my BSW. I am really hoping the mail is super fast and I get a letter today. I am so anxious, and I am supposed to be focusing on a midterm this afternoon!
  6. Wow! Congrats! What stream did you choose? Do you mind my asking what your qualifications are? Hoping I have a chance to get in too!
  7. Oh, I knew that. I was just hoping it would change to decision made. Did you email the school today?
  8. I'm the opposite, I've convinced myself I AM getting in and I know I'm going to be crushed if I don't. I know that only 1/3 of the people who applied will get in so I really hope I am one of those people. Go quickly mail service!
  9. It said decisions were mailed out today so hopefully that means ALL decisions. It is possible they just haven't updated the website yet. I really hope that is the case. I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get in bc there are no jobs for BSW grads in my area, it's all MSW. I hope your mail services moves super fast for you! I am in Waterloo so I don't know how long it takes mail to get from Toronto to Waterloo. I am hoping one day but it could be more.
  10. Has anyone's status changed online for UofT?? Mine still says Under Review. I am hoping that is not a bad sign. I keep going back and forth between being convinced I am definitely going to get in and convinced that there is no way I'll get in. Since I am waitlisted at Laurier (which we all know means not much of a chance) this is my last shot at doing my MSW this fall.
  11. OMG, is that for real?! Wow, they are really early this year. Now my heart is racing and I wish I could stay home tomorrow and stalk the mail carrier. I am only an hour from Toronto so I am hoping it only takes one day. Yikes!
  12. Me too, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do to change it now. I've read over my written statement multiple times. I think it is actually really good (writing is one of my strong points) but you never know. And I only have an 84% average (not sure what that is in GPA) so I'm a little concerned about that. But all we can do now is wait! And it is definitely going to be a very long week!
  13. I look too but people from last year said they had already gotten their rejection or acceptance letters and the status still hadn't changed online. So I'm not expecting that to be an indicator of anything. We may hear earlier than mid-March, it says decisions will be mailed out by mid-March, so it could be before that. Last year people started getting letters on March 6 or 7.
  14. It is officially March! Within the next 2 weeks we should have heard from UofT!
  15. Someone in my BSW program was accepted to the Advanced MSW program at UBC over a week ago.
  16. From the UofT website: "Decisions for the Advanced Standing M.S.W. Program will be mailed out by mid-March. Decisions for the Two-Year Full-Time Program will be mailed out by mid-April" So it is by snail mail.
  17. The email said, "Please be advised that it is not our policy to inform applicants of their position on the wait list." So I guess I just have to wait. One good point for me is this university is one of the first to notify applicants and I know a lot of people that applied to the school also applied to the same program at a number of other schools so hopefully in the next few weeks those people will turn down their spot. Well, I can dream anyways...
  18. I got an email today notifying me I am on the waitlist for Laurier. Still waiting on my other choice (website says people will be notified by mid-March). I am slightly excited because I know of 6 people in my program I'm in right now that got outright rejected. So it does give me a bit of a sense of accomplishment. But I am also wondering whether there is even a chance that I will get off the waitlist. So I guess I am tentatively optimistic but we shall see!
  19. I got waitlisted to Laurier. I am tentatively optimistic but I am not sure how much of a chance I have of getting off the waitlist. The email said there is usually some movement but they can't guarantee chances of an offer. Still waiting on UofT.
  20. I just got notified today that I am waitlisted. Do people actually get off of waitlists? Obviously each program is different, I am just wondering in general if people actually get accepted off of waitlists.
  21. I just got a waitlist email today too. I responded "Thank you for the notification, I appreciate your continued consideration of my application for the Advanced standing MSW for Fall 2014."
  22. I just heard from Laurier by email and I am waitlisted. I am happy it isn't a rejection but would rather it was an acceptance! Does anyone know what the odds of actually getting off a waiting list are? So I am tentatively hopeful, but still waiting on UofT and hoping for the best there!
  23. I am in a weird situation. I know of people getting acceptances (by email) to my program on Thursday and Friday of last week (the 20th and 21st) and a bunch of people at my BSW program received rejection letters on Monday. I have received nothing. No acceptance, no rejection, nothing. The program says that ALL applicants will hear by the end of February so should I contact them?
  24. I just looked back through my information and I figured out where your info got scrambled. The 300 applicants to the advanced standing program is accurate but the 150 is the number accepted into the 2 year MSW not the advanced standing. The advanced standing is 90. Hope that helps!
  25. Ok, I am confused now. Everyone I've talked to in my program got a rejection letter yesterday. Then you said you got a rejection letter today. I am at school but I just had my husband check the mail and he said there is nothing there. So why am I not hearing anything?? I live in the same city as Laurier so if a letter was sent I should have gotten it by now. I am getting incredibly frustrated! I just want an answer.
