  1. 4, and yes mine included a papers in submission etc section.
  2. There are many topics for research/publishing/jobs and fellowships and funding. it is still a great resource for all things grad related not just the application which as some have said is just the beginning. Maybe the questions are more diverse and the buzz in the hive is bigger in those application areas, but there are many resources and still active users currently in programs looking for support, answers, and who have questions they want to pose to the greater grad community.
  3. Best of luck! just know that it is all out of your hands now, the right people who need to have it have it and now you just sit back and wait and relax. Get ready for that interview
  4. i don't think your chances are 100% done. I was just being realistic that it might not bode well but it also could just as easily have little or no impact. It isn't that long ago that the deadline was and so that helps you.
  5. I think I'm going to give each a nice box of chocolates and a little thank you note.
  6. It definitely isn't going to help, but it also might not have any impact. Depends on when the deadline was and how long it has been past. I can't say it speaks highly to your attention to detail which is probably the biggest issue at this point. Who discovered the problem? You or the school/incorrect department?
  7. You can't do anything about this now, so put it out of your mind. also I'll be at UGA that weekend for ILS, see/meet you then!
  8. Who knows why they asked it unless maybe they just want to know the competition that they have as well? I figure its best to answer honestly so I did the same thing you did and said where I was interviewing at. I don't think any of them would reasonably expect you to have ONLY applied to one school. it also communicates that you know its difficult to get into and that people aren't taking for granted an opportunity to study there.
  9. First before anything I'd contact your LOR writer and make sure they have sent it or will be by February 1st. If the e-mail was signed by someone and doesn't appear automated you can respond saying, thank you I have spoken with Mr. XY and the letter should be received shortly if not already. If it seems like an "update" kind of thing that is automated just ensure that its on its way by talking to your LOR and don't reply. Its not necessary to reply but if someone directly contacts you it'd be at least considerate to acknowledge that.
  10. I think it would be good to at least identify the unifying features of all three of your interests. that way you can say I'm interested in XXX which is something that plays a role in X, Y, and Z. Though my focus is X I am still exploring Y and Z for similar reasons. Be specific in what interests you about all three of these if that makes sense. Good luck!
  11. If you can't find anything specific to your school i'd think at least looking at the degree/field would help. maybe just sort by education/phd and see when in general things come out. there are usually two or three waves of interviews/acceptances and certain schools group together too. the field generally operates on the same timeline with a few outliers I'd think.
  12. I really don't think the date of submission makes an impact, especially when a lot of programs say they won't review applications until after the deadline. Obviously getting it in early may also help you to go over your materials more thoroughly or have more time to relax and not stress...but that would be about the only reason submitting ahead of time is good.
