  1. yeah I really doubt she would just tell me that to get me off her back. I guess it helps knowing that I was probably not going to be attending UMASS in the fall in the first place.
  2. yeah I mean I understand that they don't typically know until the beginning of the year about budget, but it's still frustrating... @viola: I don't know how far this goes (or if it is even true for that matter), but I would definitely check it out. It is kind of a weight lifted knowing that a decision has been made.
  3. So on the UMASS webpage they said that non-clinical applicants can request an interview by contacting the professor directly so I did. I won't divulge any names, but I got a response back saying that most of the social faculty has decided to not take students b/c of budget concerns... The professor was really nice and very helpful when I would email back and forth, but this was kind of frustrating. I would have accepted a "No I am not taking students" when I first emailed months ago. That would have at least saved me the app fee. So if there is anybody else applying to UMASS, I don't know if this is really true. Unfortunately I won't be going there.
  4. Well if you got an interview at Purdue then I think you will have no problem getting into A&M... Fingers crossed for two positions open.
  5. On the results page somebody has said that they have already sent out the one acceptance letter for the year. I don't know any details but apparently they were only taking one person...
  6. I guess first I would get ahold of the list of schools that the APA publishes with all the Ph.D. programs with vacancies and see if I would be a good fit for any of those programs. Other than that I would just start my masters at the school I am at right now (which I would rather never have to resort to.......)
  7. @a.arcane Who are you applying to work with at DePaul?
  8. I totally agree with sabastiaan. The last thing you need is somebody that doesn't even really know how well they are going to do telling you how you are going to do.
  9. @jordy. Congrats on the Purdue interview!
  10. I would really like to go. My adviser said that grad students from programs will all go together, but my school doesn't have a grad social program so my adviser is the only person from my department going. On a side note: A&M grad coordinator has told me that the department would start contacting people in a little over two weeks.
  11. I thought about it really hard, but my adviser said it wouldn't be worth the money if you can't put something on your vita. He said that more than likely if you do see anybody you are interested in working with they will only have a few minutes in between prior engagements that they probably have. Don't take that as a reason not to go though. I was still going to go, but it's just really expensive with flight and hotel...
  12. I cannot log on to my email anymore without holding my breath...
  13. I've heard some widely varying answers... One school has told me that they will start reviewing today (deadline was Jan 15) and I will hear something in a week or so (which I assume means next Friday but I am an extreme optimist) and then another school started reviewing Jan 1 and have quoted me around 6 weeks for any word. Honestly, that makes no sense to me to take so long, but that is how they like to do it.
  14. Yeah I am pretty anxious about all this. Official word is that Texas and Tennessee start reviewing applications tomorrow. I am sure that A&M will be doing the same (if they haven't already started) and UMASS has been reviewing for weeks now. It's only a matter of weeks now before I start getting phone calls (I hope I get phone calls...). Also, I don't know if I have already said this, but I was trolling the results page (you know you do it too!) and it appears that most of the results that are positive happen in February. March wasn't completely bad, but not nearly as positive as February. The point that I got from this... I hope I get some news in February....
  15. Yeah my percentiles weren't nearly as far apart as my scaled score. Every school has told me that they don't put any preference on either part, but a few of my undergrad profs have told me that is bs.
  16. Yeah I am pretty anxious thanks to my GPA. Even more so since it was actually at A&M where I shot myself in the foot...
  17. It really is unfortunate. My department head was telling me that the GRE means ALOT. He said that a high GRE score can excuse weaker parts of an application. Lets just hope a 1270 (750Q/520V... I have probably worried more about that 230 point difference than necessary..) will cut it.
  18. Just as a side note. When I was talking to the A&M grad coordinator I told her about my low GPA and that it was my freshman year that really messed me up. Well I asked her if this would hurt me and she chuckled and said that I am not the only person that had this problem and that is why they focus on the last 60 hours.
  19. It really just makes no since to me how averaging two scores on a test can be fair under any circumstances. And I am not just saying this because that would hurt my chances, but it just seems ridiculous since there are so many things that could effect the outcome of each test.
  20. lol well since the coma probably won't happen I will just stick with the drink. A lot of my schools start reviewing this week... And after looking at the results page for the 1,000th time I've realized that February will be a roller coster month for me.
  21. I am extremely anxious about this entire process. It's just hard to think that I am just supposed to sit here and wait for months while these schools review applications. I understand that it really does take a long time, but that doesn't make it any easier.
  22. I really hope so. I'm already anxious enough thanks to my GPA. lol
  23. I can't believe that some school actually take the average of both scores... That just seems ridiculous.
  24. My mistake. It doesn't say it online, but I specifically remember the grad coordinator saying that they use the highest score. I was pretty worried about it after I made 90 points lower overall the second time I took it. I guess I got lucky b/c I didn't choose A&M as one of my schools the second time and apparently ETS didn't send the lower scores to A&M.
  25. The same, but probably Rholes more than Eastwick since Eastwick wasn't sure about taking students when I talked to him.
