Don't do it!!! I am going on my 5th month without shaving and I am enjoying the product. You are almost past the itching. I cannot tell you how many compliments I get about my beard! I simply call them and ask if there have been any updates on the social/experimental applications. I don't want to be known as the annoying applicant so I prefer the phone to keep it a little more anonymous.

That was actually the main reason I called. I wanted to know if they had set a date for an interview weekend. They do not have an interview weekend. You can just expect a call from your POI.

I would actually like to know this as well. I have called the grad secretaries multiple times just asking if there were any updates coming from the social faculty, but I have not worked up the courage to contact the grad coordinator..

Has anybody heard anything from Texas A&M/Tennessee yet? @a.arcane: I think you are the only other person applying to DePaul... Well I called Jennifer Klein and she said that the faculty are meeting this week and she said that word should be coming out soon.

Fingers crossed! I applied for the Social program. There are 3 other people in this forum alone that are applying for the 1 open spot in the certain lab that I applied for.

Can anybody tell me if the Experimental program at Tennessee does interviews?

I could imagine that they might be worried about you being unwilling to relocate an entire family (if you were applying to anywhere far away that is...).

Looks like I am getting one more rejection... Texas is pretty much off my list. At least I know the rest of my schools have not began sending out word to anybody.

I actually took only 12 hours this semester and it was a huge mistake. 3 of those hours are independent study so it's not really a class to me. My schedule works out that I don't have classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. I was excited until I realized it would give me more time to focus on my applications and not hearing anything... lol I know how you feel about your adviser already having a new RA... I was my advisers first RA and we are pretty much friends. Although, even though he is planning studies and it doesn't make sense to include me on he has said that he would still like to work with me after I leave. It kind of sucked having to explain that starting in the fall his lab would take a backseat to my new adviser's lab and my personal research, but he understood. Point is: Do not take a light load on your last semester. I had taken over 20 hours in the last two semesters and only taking 12 is pretty frustrating.

Well congrats on the invite. I am just thinking that I have a better shot of getting an invite to a recruitment weekend rather than an outright acceptance from Texas. Who is your POI?

I just wanted to know IF I were to get any word from Texas then what kind it would be.

Yeah I really hate standardized tests as a whole, but I think the GRE is horrible. The whole "I want you to take this word and loosely relate it to another word" really messed with me.

Somebody said that they had applied for the personality side of the Social/Personality program at Texas and was invited to a Recruitment weekend on Feb 19. They wouldn't have two different Recruitment weekends for the same program would they? If not then I would expect this next week to be the week that they send out invitations. Also, is there a difference between an interview weekend and a recruitment weekend as far as people the invite to come?

Yeah. That is why I probably won't email any of my POIs. I just wouldn't want to give them any reason to think of me as pushy or impatient. However, I have called the secretaries every week.

Just out of curiosity... Did you email the POIs to find this info or did they initiate? I am just wondering because I would love to have information like this about my schools, but the secretaries don't really tell me more than "they are reviewing and will send out notification as necessary"... I want to find out more, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by emailing the POI.

Yeah I always wonder if they are sitting on the computer watching my posts. It wouldn't be difficult to link my sn to my app... lol I try to get over it though. I applied to work with Rholes and Eastwick as well. That makes 3 in this forum that are applying to their labs... I applied to work with Acitelli/Knee at Houston. They were both extremely helpful when I would email them.

I definitely know how you feel... I get on my email in the morning hoping for something... The other day I was in class and my mom called me. I didn't know it was her and my heart began racing.. I am just ready to know that I will be somewhere. ANYWHERE...
