You need that week to recharge your batteries! I have only 17 more days of instruction (teaching 9th and 12th grade English in an inner-city school) and I am counting down the seconds until I can crawl in my bed and sleep for 48 hours straight. The first week off I do absolutely nothing. I just lay in bed and recharge because I am so burnt-out. Then around July 1st (late this year!) I break out of the bedroom and my creative juices are following again and I can start planning for next year. I also do this the week before pre-service because God knows I won't get much sleep that week either.

I watch Miami Vice on Netflix and eat ice cream in bed. This is why I am fat

I would say look in Northern Virginia near the Metro stops. I currently live in NW (Van Ness Metro Stop) and my studio was 1490 unfurnished and not including electricity and cable. I pay 1690 for a 1BA/1BR unfurnished and not including cable.

I can't find a thread anywhere soooooo I am going to assume that there isn't one. I am starting this fall, I have been in DC since 2011. I will be working full-time and taking two classes in the evenings. Anyone else?!

I guess the huge question I have is 11" or 13" Air. I like the 11" because it is small and compact but I am blind as bat

I disagree with that. My MacBook (white unibody, 2009) has lasted a helluva lot longer than my HP that I had in undergrad. I have had no real issues with my MacBook and I won't go with any other brand.

I've already ordered 3 of my 7 books for fall. The school bookstore thankfully has the updated book list for fall 2014 already on its website so I was able to see what I needed to order. I hate that I have to special order two books, thus having to go through the bookstore. Price gougers.

Declined George Washington, Johns Hopkins, and University of Illinois-Chicago last night. -
I did. I was stuck between American and George Washington. Decided on American!

I unfortunately have to work while I go for my MA. I am curious to see how this plays out. I am a high school teacher in an urban school district so I have stressors that many other teachers don't.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are about American Uni's program. Only place I have been accepted so far, just waiting on others at this point.

Congratulations!! I wish my other schools would HURRY UP!

Masters of Government, American Politics.

Should I go ahead and assume a rejection from Georgetown for a Masters? I have heard NOTHING, even though I know another person on here has also applied. George Washington University should be sending out information either the end of this week or beginning of next.

When I worked in fundraising at Florida State the alumni only gave if the football team was doing well. Donations don't always go towards the football team (they have their separate fundraising and funding department), they largely go towards the school as a whole.
-
Alumni and the surround community isn't donating money because they haven't won a BCS Championship in a while. That is how it is in the two major state schools (UF and FSU).

I see you got accepted at American too. Me too! Are you going to the visitation day on the 28th?
-
Yea I would really like to know. Mind you, I only applied for the Masters of Government. My application was in at the beginning of January! Should I take this as a presumed rejection for MA Government?

Has Anyone Else Gotten Problematically Lazy Since Being Accepted?

Oh heaven's no. I am excited to get back in the classroom as a student this time. I am even more motivated! I can't wait to start!! -

Hello, First time poster! I have been out of school since 2009 and have been teaching high school since 2011 in the District of Columbia. Last year I received a Congressional Senior Fellowship (worth 24k) that requires me to go back for a Masters in either American History or Political Science. My UGD is in History (3.1 GPA, after flunking out my freshman year) and my GRE are scores are sub-par (300 total). With the amount of time that I have been out of school hurt my application? On the other hand, would having a Senior Fellowship help me? Thanks!
