Meh, I opened a fortune cookie last week that said "confidence is the hinge on the door to success" so I've decided to milk that for what it's worth. Anyway, luckily enough for you, you have already gone through the interview gauntlet and so have some fresh ideas floating around in your head. It would be nice to get that email--no matter the decision--any day now!

I didn't wait for an email, but I did just check my AppYourself website and decisions for the 16th are available. Rejected, but I am very please to report that the online Magic 8 Ball is currently 3/3 in predictions! Silver lining! -

Both SFS and Elliott (and even Pickering) are killing me right now....after that first letter from SIS I've become addicted to knowing and as a result of that, extremely useless at work. For my sanity and my employer's sake RELEASE THE LETTERS ALREADY!!

Because "face the facts, only half of you will make it!" is the kind of cheerful optimism I wanted to promote on this thread.

All Germany ETA-ers should hear back around the second to the last week of March. The German Kommission was on their game last year and sent out letters way before their early April goal. If the trend holds, than everyone should hear within the next month! Laender aren't determined for another month or so after your initial acceptance so you'll still be in the dark about that. The Austrian commissioned teaching assistantship notifies their grantees the first week of April which makes the decision even more difficult for those of you who have applied to both countries because unlike the German Kommission, Austria actually tells you in your acceptance email the exact town you're placed in, as well as the individual schools you'll be teaching at. Good luck to all the Germany-ETA finalists!!

That's helpful...thanks! I was cautiously optimistic about Pickering until I saw how qualified everyone else was on here (reading users personal stats, while interesting, is a bit of an ego buster). What happens, happens although I was of a mind to put a sticky note on my application that said "Look! I'm already in DC! You don't need to spend any money to fly me in for interviews! How convienent is that??" -
I had a friend who was accepted for TFA and Fulbright (Germany ETA) around the same time. She was able to defer TFA to the next year under the condition that she end her Fulbright grant a month early in order to attend training back in the States. Between both TFA and the German Kommission everything worked out great and she is now in Texas finishing her first year.
