  1. It looks like SSW is still sending out scholarships and grants, so be on the lookout for another award letter. I was offered a $40,000 scholarship and $12,000 grant. I hadn't even sent my appeal letter yet.
  2. I wasn't offered any funding from Michigan, and I am still waiting to hear about a graduate assistantship at Loyola. It's looking like Loyola since I am already in the city and the tuition is significantly cheaper than Michigan. Good luck with making your final decisions!
  3. I wasn't offered any scholarships and wasn't given the GSSA position. I want to appeal for more aid but it seems unlikely they will go from offering 0 to 60% of tuition (what I need covered in order to justify going).
  4. Neither did I
  5. Ah, okay. There are several programs in the US that allow doctoral students to earn their MSW at the same time. Those spots are limited and typically reserved for students with a MA in a related field or have extensive research experience. Applicants apply to both the MSW and PhD programs, get accepted by both and begin coursework in both.
  6. It does. Thank you!
  7. I would look into MSW/PhD programs since you will still do field placements to complete the MSW and you will also focus on your research as a doctoral student. From what I understand, doctoral coursework is 2 or 3 years, and you'll spend an additional year or two preparing and working on your dissertation. You could possibly do clinical work during that time. I don't know how easy it is to balance all of that, so it's only an idea to look into. Ashny's idea is good too.
  8. For those of you offered scholarships, how soon after your admissions did you hear? How did they contact you?
  9. I haven't received an award letter yet but saw on Wolverine that I was offered work study and $20k in direct loans. No thanks. Keeping my fingers crossed for the National Community Scholars program and external scholarships.
  10. I was accepted to the 20-month program for Comm Org/Comm & Soc System MSW with social policy as my minor practice method. I haven't heard about funding yet, but I applied to one of the GSSA positions and a special program. Out-of-state tuition is pretty outrageous. UM is my top choice but I will only go if I manage to get 50% of it covered with scholarships and grants.
  11. Anyone else apply for a GSSA position or special program at Michigan? I emailed my applications yesterday. Super nervous to hear back!
  12. Congratulations!
  13. Thanks! I hope to hear soon so I can make my decision before March.
  14. Has anyone heard about funding at UMichigan? I was accepted before Christmas and my FAFSA was accepted around that time. Haven't heard anything yet :/
  15. Congratulations! Getting into your top choice is always exciting!
  16. It wouldn't hurt considering you still have an interest in their program.
  17. Yay! Congratulations!
  18. I have no idea. It could be by program timeline (16 month vs 20 month), whether or not you applied for a special program (I didn't). Maybe it depends on the specific admissions committee. I'm not sure how it works but based on past threads, people who applied by the early deadline should hear by mid to late January.
  19. Congratulations!
  20. Congratulations! Is it your top choice?
  21. Thank you! I think an official transcript is only needed to complete your application IF you didn't upload or send an unofficial transcript. I was offered tentative admissions because they didn't receive my official transcript - I just sent it.
  22. Congratulations!
  23. I received an email with an admissions offer attached.
  24. Thank you! Hoping the best for you.
