What surprised you the most going through this whole process?
PhDEducation replied to budgie's topic in 2010-2015 Archive
I am surprised about how much of my life waiting, checking, and dreaming has taken over my daily life. I currently have a decent job as a school administrator but all I can think about is dumping it to get my PhD in order to change the system of education. I wait wondering if I did enough, worked hard enough, had enough people read my work to ensure it was the best it could be. The process makes me emotional . . . very unexpected. -
Worry not, you have admission to a MA program with 60% funding which is great. . . go on living let the other schools do there thing, you have time until the deadline. Your prospective POI and school know students have options and need time to make decisions. I still wait patiently (haha) for my first admit

Yeah so my obsessions with email and portal checking remain valid and I don't need to see a Dr. Expect for the fact I am on the East Coast and 2/3 remaining are West Coast yet I still check 50 times before 11

What will you treat yourself to?
PhDEducation replied to OnceAndFutureGrad's topic in Waiting it Out
I will treat myself to a new pair of underwear because undoubtedly I will be so overcome with joy and happiness I won't be able to control my functions. -

Is Spring Break Week Dead for Decisions ?!
PhDEducation replied to DaDocStruggle's topic in Waiting it Out
Spring break sounds like a perfect time for adcoms to meet and decide with little disruptions. I am keeping the faith that I will hear great news today, but if not next week while they are on break will be fine -
Emailed Grad Department to ask about timeline they were very nice in stating no decisions have been made. Well that takes some stress off that I was rejected Just keep waiting and knowing that good things will come

What you think the adcoms are saying about your application
PhDEducation replied to DeWinter's topic in Waiting it Out
Thought I should pop this back to the top some good reads to keep us entertained as we sit patiently waiting some of the best news we will ever hear. -

Thanks I agree, I got a mailing package a few weeks ago and was post marked 2nd week of Feb so I know they are looking maybe if it took them that long to get those out who knows. I agree " Some of us have life decisions to make, and it may depend in whether or not we are admitted into a program-And I wouldn't want to be caught in a fix where I get rejected too late not to be able to pursue my other options" 2 of the 3 remaining would require across the country moves and selling condo all which I am excited for and want to do.

I am sure it has been talked about within the forum, but I couldn't find any recent advice. At what point do you think it is appropriate to email POIs and schools about admission decisions? One program had a Dec 15 due date and nothing, seems to be a long time, thoughts?

Great question, I battle with it as well one school has been Under Review for a lengthy time and many on this site are not Education and don't post often unless it is Harvard or Columbia so it is hard to know if any decisions have been made using the results search
