I emailed the graduate head of my department. I got the 4-year fellowship. She knew on Friday. Wish she'd let us know!

I didn't get a letter today in downtown Montreal, but I did get an email from McGill GPS! It was just an automated email saying that I had received a fellowship so I don't know which one, but McGillians might want to check your email! (ftr I just finished my MA at McGill and am attending Concordia in the fall so it was my current school, not my future one). Also if you don't have an email waiting don't get discouraged they may not send them all at once. Just figured people might like to know this info.

Right now, I am trying hard to focus on all of the reasons that it will be okay if I fail in this competition. I'm in Georgia (direct applicant), so it might be a few days before I know the results.
Maybe this will be helpful for other people?
    1. There are plenty of chances yet.
    2. Every year that you fail is a chance to gain more and more items to put on your CV.
    3. Success in this competition is not a measure of your worth.
    4. Just being in grad school is akin to winning lots of competitions!
    5. The harder you work to prove yourself, the better you become as a scholar.

If anybody else wants to chime in, feel welcome.

Congrats to all who were successful!

Those who've heard news are mostly reporting success. But if you haven't heard anything I don't think you should assume lack of success.  Whether or not anybody tells you in advance really does seem to depend on the school and even the department within the school. So some will not know for sure until the mail comes; others might get emails tomorrow or the next day from their departments. Crossing fingers for as many as possible.

Got a notification from our graduate secretary on Friday that my application was successful ?
I just now went through the 2016 thread (because I'm neurotic and won't believe it's real until I actual have the physical letter) and it looks like people started getting emails on a Friday, Ontario got physical letters on Monday or Tuesday, and west coast got physical letters Wednesday or Thursday. So hopefully everyone should know their results by the end of this coming week.

The notification process seems idiosyncratic between schools and for what it's worth, my student account says I got the Doctoral Fellowship and I didn't get an email, yet people on the waitlist at my school seem to have been notified.

Yes....heard from the director of my department Friday night at about 6:30 pm. (In a message that somehow went to my junk mail and I only discovered by a fluke!)
I am in my 2nd year of the PhD and was awarded the CGS for 3 years. Or so he "unofficially" said. I still don't believe it. Won't, until I see the actual letter.
For what it is worth, last year I was waitlisted for the smaller, 2 year doctoral award. Note: this year's proposal was almost identical. The only real difference was that I had some first year PhD grades on the transcript. (I am a returning student who had been out of school for a while before my return as a PhD candidate, but my MA grades were all good, so you wouldn't think that would be super important.) Also, I had my supervisor and a current prof write recommendations, rather than my MA supervisor and my current supervisor. But again, I'm sure these letters were comparable. Meanwhile, I did nothing to the proposal itself except maybe change a comma. I had worked so hard on that #$(%* thing the first time round that neither I, nor my supervisor, could figure out a way to improve it. So in desperation, we just forwarded it again!
If you weren't chosen this year, don't give up hope; it could still happen for you next year. Good luck to all who are still waiting to find out. It is a crazy system. I really feel there should be coordination and a streamlined process so people don't have to go nuts with all the waiting.

I was informed by my grad coordinator about the results. I was awarded a CGS. I asked earlier in the day if they had any news and he said he hadn't received any but would let me know once he did (he did about an hour later). I'm at U of T and 2phd by the way.
For those interested, I made it to the national competition last year but was unsuccessful. I was also unsucccessful with Trudeau and Vanier (made it both to Montreal and Ottawa) this year. These scholarship competitions are seriously crapshoots so for anyone who is unsuccessful and can try again next year, don't let these results discourage you - you couldn't literally submit the same application next year and be successful. Congrats to those who are successful, and all the best to those patiently waiting.

Western emailed me to let me know that SSHRC notified them with the results. I've been waitlisted. Better than being rejected, and at least I was awarded OGS earlier today, so I'm happy either way!! Good luck everyone!

If they HAVE to still send us our letters by archaic means, I think I'd prefer it if they don't tweet about it first. We're sort of waiting for TWO things to happen.

O shit -- Surely the SSHRC people know of this. Maybe the letters will actually go out before Friday (somewhere in this thread someone said something about receiving the letter before the tweet). In any case, hope it all works out for you!

SSHRC has not yet tweeted about the letters. ... Once they do, I suspect it will take a couple of days.

For what it's worth, I don't think the schools have been informed either (by email).  I contacted the awards officer yesterday, and she said she has not heard yet. More waiting.

If they say "this week" today, I'm skeptical it's happening today... /sigh
My friend's prof is on one of the committees and said that the decisions are already made, they met almost a month ago to discuss them, apparently.
