I would make out with you so hard rn guy/girl tongue/no tongue doesn't even matter Also, who are you most interested in working with at Utah?
-
Congratulations! Also, weirdly, exactly the song I listened to when I passed

I kind of want to high five whoever posted the Hogwarts acceptance.

Solicited rejection from mcgill. Did not make the shortlist that represented 6% of their total applicants. damn.
-
I just contacted McGill because I've seen multiple rejections and one or two acceptances and my application website still says nothing. Hopefully it's good news, but at this point, anything to end Schrodinger's AppliCATion purgatory.

They've made all of their decisions, but their funding packages get approved one-by-one. Everyone is in the same acceptance pool (WL'd) and offered acceptances as funding packages are approved. Something like that. But we all got the same email back on the 2nd of Feb.

I mean, I suppose if the waitlist is 2 or 3 people long you are simultaneously "near the top," "near the bottom," and "around the middle" no matter which position you are.
-
I had forgotten how irritating the last bit of waiting was. Of course, last year I didn't make any WL's, so coming to terms with the fact that I may indeed be waiting until the middle of April is hard.

Someone posted a McGill rejection... No, I'm not terrified or anything checks email for the 10th time in 10 minutes
-
That's awesome good luck!

Person B should really only choose Irvine. Also, you should decline Indiana

My program had a terrible year last year, but had done very well in years prior to that. This year we seem to be faring a bit better, my own results notwithstanding.
-
Rejected from Yale. eh, didn't wanna go there anyway
-
Just received my email ejection from Irvines LPS program. Wonder why it took so long.
-
I feel the same about Indiana and Western.
-
Don't forget to post your declines here!

I'm too afraid to check

Here's a little perspective: I applied to Stanford last year, as well as several other top programs, and I learned from their rejection letter that they had over 400 applicants last year. 400. Given that those were PhD applicants to Stanford it's reasonable to assume that the top 80 or so were objectively indistinguishable from each other. Even if they can only accept 4 or so new students, that's only a 5% chance that you reasonably have of getting picked. You're not being shut out of other places because of anything wrong with your application, you're getting shut out because there are hundreds of other applicants who are at least as objectively good as you. It's a stats game, nothing more. Many people who are getting multiple acceptances have been applying for more than one year--they've had the extra time to really work on focusing their statements and working on reaching out to professors. Congratulations, you got into Harvard. That's an incredible achievement. Now start treating that acceptance with the respect it deserves, or decline, and let someone else do so.

That's amazing. Also "panty-costal"--I kinda lost it

Everything about that makes me mad.

I started the Declining 2016 thread. I couldn't wait.

Two of the schools I applied to were strictly to do feminist philosophy. I used a paper on silencing as my writing sample to both as well as had letters from a very good feminist philosopher. Sadly, I've been rejected from one and presumed rejected from the other.

Holy shit. The silencing never ceases This is fucking irritating. What school was it?
