  1. At work and nervous every time I reach over to my phone to see any gmail notifications! Can't wait to hear back though
  2. For my CMU application, it only says "Application Complete and Ready for Review". What's that suppose to mean?
  3. Guilty here as well. But I feel like they would notify you if the application is incomplete?
  4. I get nervous so much that I kept looking back at all the essays I submitted which I definitely would not advise on doing. Only a few more weeks to go
  5. I don't think it would hurt to try at all and you definitely stand a chance. The schools I mentioned are great for Public Finance.
  6. Your four years of work experience will always be a huge plus. Are you applying to start in fall 2016? I think a lot of deadlines for MPA/MPP programs have passed now...atleast for the ones you have mentioned. But you can double check. If anyone wants to correct me on this, feel free. If you need help tracking down some programs, let me know. Anything to help out a fellow North Carolinian .
  7. mpp2016, do you know when we hear back from Duke?
  8. Ah shoot, I have the GWU MPP program at Trachtenberg on my mind, didn't know you meant Elliot! Do you have any comments on the MPP program?
  9. Can you elaborate on what you mean by GWU "as its level of eliteness does not seem to be commensurate with its cost"?
  10. Curious to know how not being able to secure funding in this field is received. Slightly concerned..
  11. Err crap I guess I am half asleep when I said "Michigan, and Ford" I meant Duke, Michigan, and CMU To be fair, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the schools on your list. You should really look at CMU and Michigan though for private-sector placement
  12. Duke, Michigan, and Ford are quant-heavy as well. I also wouldn't rule out GWU (based on the courses you pick). I don't know anything about Princeton and JHU, Tufts, and American have international affairs programs
  13. Would you be able to read my SOP if it's not too much of a hassle for you? I would really love some feedback
  14. It seems like you go to SAIS. Can you elaborate more on why you think it's not worth it?
  15. I don't know if I can help you because I am dumb but what is the topic you have to write about out of curiosity?
  16. Both in my personal opinion
  17. I took AP Micro in high school and passed the exam. However I took Intermediate Micro my sophomore year and made a C. So I decided I should strengthen my foundation in Micro so I am taking a course at UT Austin Extension which has a microeconomics class for around $550.. It's really not that bad. You don't even need to pay for a textbook. Just find it online for free somewhere if you need.
  18. It is what it is man. I am doing it because I find my current career track less and less enjoyable. Life is short. Most of that time is spent working. I want to join a program because I want to do something enjoyable during the day. Make a difference in some positive way. Find new meaning to a career.
  19. Thanks for the reply. I am going to go with her LOR! If anyone else has LOR questions, feel free to use this thread to ask :)
  20. I have a question about LORs. I started a new job about 3 months back and have been working very closely with my manager who has gotten to know me very well and can attest to my character quite strongly. Is it okay to get an LOR from her? or is it not enough time?
  21. Thanks for the reply! I don't think it will be too bad and it never hurts to apply. I will probably end up applying to one school there, and Duke.
  22. I live in NC and despite the ideal location of Duke, I ruled it out solely because of the fact that it's definitely not a quant program..
  23. @‌manutdftw good point on the essays, thanks!
