But we have to make a decision by April 15.
-
I thought Rutgers was supposed to tell us in February. I don't understand what's going on.
-
Taking my seat in the front row and grabbing popcorn. I think this is where I belong.
-
I knew I should have applied to more schools in the south, midwest, and west.
-
Just wondering, why did you apply to Harvard if you knew it wasn't a good fit/what you were looking for?
-
And it's going to snow again...which is probably going to affect 3-5/6 of my schools again. At this rate, I won't hear anything until July.

Do graduate programs and departments check facebook

I have a track counter on my personal website. I can see the locations of who visited my site. It showed that someone typed my full name in google and visited my site from a city where one of the schools I applied to is located. So, it's true. Schools may time to google you. -
*Still waiting* Maybe this will be the week I get a decision.
-
I don't know if this helps or not, but I know someone who has been accepted to the Master Crim program at Rutgers.

Does this apply to website status checkers too? Do website statuses change during non business hours? -

If you're a student or past student there, you can use your current UID. Otherwise, you can't check. -
Yes, a bit late, but I rather March is it than April is it.

I got a call today and it's President's day. lol

Calling departments about documents: don't take anything for granted
urbanchic replied to rev IT's topic in Waiting it Out
Yup, this is one of my greatest fears...losing my things and not telling me. But I don't want to be a pest because they recommend not calling in asking if they have our materials or not.[rant] Well, I wouldn't need to call if you would just tell me what's missing instead of tossing me to the reject pile. [/rant over] -
This is my first time applying. I'm straight out of undergrad, applying to a mix of Master's and PhD programs in "social science". Most people here seem to be applying to PhD programs in sciences or humanities. And what is the meaning of your subtitle?

My school is open on President's day.

I rather you email me than mail me a rejection. Letters are for acceptances. All of that time, hard work, and concentration it takes to go to the mail box and open the letter, it better be positive. Besides, why waste paper and gas to tell me that I got rejected?

How often does the admin committee change applications and recommend someone for Master's who applied for PhD applicant or a PhD for someone who applied for Master's? Would you see it as a good thing? Also, after one gets accepted, how likely is it that the applicant will be allowed to change the degree they originally applied for (especially if they have received outside funding for it)? For example, if someone got accepted to a Master's program, but received an outside scholarship that will only fully cover a PhD program, and the school offers both a Master's and Phd in the subject, do you think the school will allow the student to enroll as a PhD student instead of a Master's? Thanks.

Westox, Boston told me they will tell us in the 1st or 2nd week of March. goodluck! Oh, have you visited with Boston?

Maybe you should wait until you get all of your results first.
