  1. Do you think if you're waitlisted they'll email us about it? I haven't heard back nor has my status updated from review in progress by department. Seems like didn't make the first cut, oh well. Would be nice to know the actual status..
  2. Anyone's status stay the same for a long time? My status hasn't changed for almost 3 weeks now . Still at review in progress by department.
  3. Congratulations everyone!! Very happy for you all. Hopefully the rest of us will hear back by the end of next week.
  4. My status has been "review in progress by department" for two weeks now. Hopefully it's in the next stage but not updated..
  5. Spoke with Tabbatha on the phone today, and she said that they're trying to have decisions out by the end of the month. If they can't go through with that deadline, then she said it'll be early - mid March. @LoopyLex was correct!
  6. My status changed to "Review in progress by department"! My initials are ZY. Hopefully it'll be "Recommended for assessment" soon. The wait is killing me ?
  7. My initials are Z Y, and my status is still at "preliminary review required". It'll be a long wait for me if they process alphabetically..
  8. Woah, you mean everyone that applied by the Jan 31 deadline should hear back by the end of February?? That would be.. wonderful :') PS. How did you find out??
  9. I never found specific instructions for that, but I single spaced.
  10. I hope you've gotten around to your references at least.. Still plenty of time left for the rest
  11. Damn. Struggling to cut my letter of intent, currently sitting at 2.5 pages. How's everyone else doing here? Also, just noticed that in exactly two months we should be hearing back. Going to be a long wait my friends.
  12. Can someone please speak to this requirement for the program? Are applicants required to be fluent in French and pass an examination? Or can it be any language? "5. Successful completion of second language proficiency examination" Students must successfully complete an examination in second language proficiency administered by Carleton University's School of Linguistics and Language Studies, or meet the equivalent standard as determined by the School of Linguistics and Language Studies. There is an administrative fee for the standard test (provides a certificate of language proficiency). Students are strongly encouraged to take the opportunity to improve their language skills during their studies, including during their summer terms. Details of the language requirement are provided on the School website.
  13. @Sagnik_G That's a good point. Good way to go about it! And thanks! I dropped the ball on two courses (low 60s) but other than that I have high 70s and 80s. One can hope.
  14. @Sagnik_G I think it'd be a good idea to use something once at least! I have yet to write my letter lmao.. but I plan to.
  15. Hi everyone. Long time lurker here, this is probably my third cycle.. but I'm finally applying! Looking forward to grinding out the wait with y'all. Happy to introduce myself and share my stats. Would love to hear what you guys think. Graduated this summer from U of T with a PoliSci specialist and Public Law minor. CGPA: 2.7, last two years GPA: 3.4. I have a plethora of executive campus community engagement experience (mentoring, student life, tedxutsc, frosh, student's association). I have also worked as a research assistant for a well renowned professor for almost two years - subject areas: jihadist financing and jihadist normative change. I was involved in the production of a book and two scholarly articles. In addition I worked in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as an usher for one parliamentary session. Currently I've been working in Ontario's Ministry of Tourism, Sport and Culture as an Assistant Policy and Program Advisor since graduating. My interests include: security, conflict analysis/resolution, and foreign affairs. I am also fluent in Uzbek, Farsi/Dari, and Uzbek. I'm really worried about my marks, and I'm not sure about using "i volunteered and worked 2 jobs to feed myself through uni".. but yeah. I'm really hoping I'll write a good letter of intent and have strong reference letters.
  16. Hey! Thank you for that haha, I appreciate it . That's the plan!
  17. You're right haha. Well, I'd like to think I'm giving my best, of course I understand I need to work harder though. Year 1 = 1.6, year 2 = 2.5, and I just finished my third year with 3.3 both semesters. I guess I'm just curious if there are any other folks like me around.
  18. Don't want to be off-topic but is it -possible- to get accepted with a 3.3? I'm currently in U of T and I have 1 more year to go but even if I do my best I'll barely hit the 3.3 mark. Would someone with a 3.3, extensive volunteering experience and campus community/leadership jobs (work-study paid positions), fluent in Russian, Dari, Uzbek (grew up/lived in those countries) have a chance? I was thinking of going to Munk or NPSIA, or whichever IR related graduate school I could get in to..
