    New York, NY

Hi everyone, I've just accepted Columbia TC's offer for an MA in TESOL, and will be attending starting in the Fall. I'll most likely be in grad housing, since I don't think I'll be able to find anything for much cheaper and might not be staying in NYC for the whole year. Anyone who's dorming at TC and wants a predetermined roommate, please message me!
  2. TC: I want to work on Long Island/in NYC in the future, and their connections can't be beat. The program is intensive, and I'm really looking forward to it!
  3. Thank you!! I'm over the moon about this! At first, I needed to click my application. Now, the status has changed. I think they want it to be sa surpirse, there was digital confetti falling from the top of the page to the bottom when I first opened my decision letter online! Thank you so much! Don't worry, you'll hear back soon! I applied pretty early on, so I'm sure not everyone has heard back yet! Thanks Thank you~~ they didn't provide me with any of that info in my acceptance letter, and I still haven't received any info on finances. Hope they contact me about that soon, though!
  4. Thank you~ It was by email, they told me to check my application for updates!
  5. Just received my acceptance letter! I applied to the TESOL Masters program (the one that leads to certification), and they didn't set up an interview; they didn't contact me until they made the decision. I'm over the moon about this, as TC was my first choice. Now I need to figure out how I'm paying for it ><.
  6. Congratulations! I haven't received anything yet, but TC is my top choice as well. Good luck!!!
  7. I'm waiting on my essay scores; they'll be coming in soon. But I'll take what you said into consideration. However, I'm just worried because my scores aren't really up there with everyone else's. In fact, they're on the low end... Thank you for the advice, though. Very helpful to get someone else's opinion.
  8. Thank you so much for your kind words; you really made my day!
  9. Hi all, I'm a senior in undergrad at Binghamton University currently looking to apply for MA programs in NYC for TESOL (certification tracks in particular). I tried researching institutions, but found that there isn't much info on which programs are the best. My list is currently: Columbia Teachers College, Hunter, and Queens College. I'm open to places on Long Island as well as NYC (plan to commute from Queens). If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! A little bit about me: Major: Linguistics Minors: Japanese, Education GPA: 3.9 Major GPA: 4.0 GRE: 153/153 (I really didn't study much at all ><... None of the programs I'm applying to so far require it, and I'm not sure if I should even send my scores--especially for Columbia) Work Experience: I worked at a daycare as an assistant teacher for a summer and have been TAing in ESL classes at my university for 3 semesters; twice for credit, once as a volunteer. Other: I'm in 2 Honors Societies, Phi Sigma Iota and Phi Beta Kappa. I also studied in Japan for a semester and wrote a bit about it in my SoP. I'm worried that I don't have enough extracurriculars since I spent most of my time maintaining my GPA, and my GRE scores are pretty bad :(. I feel like GPA is all I've got!
