  1. @elkel87 haha that's awesome! I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal either way. I already told my employer I was leaving, I just didn't want it to make an impact on how much I got in loans... but it seems like it really wouldn't anyway! Thanks!!
  2. Thank you! That's super helpful and pretty much what I have gathered from the process, so I'm glad you reassured what I was thinking.
  3. I probably have this figured out better than I think, but I just want to make sure because it's all super confusing... So I got the letter with my FAFSA unsubsidized loan information from my school already. In addition, I applied for a PLUS loan which I haven't heard anything about yet. What is the difference between these two? I'm worried I basically submitted a duplicate funding application that isn't going to help me further. What other loans, grants, etc do people apply for?? Or should I be pretty set with the unsubsidized loan and the PLUS loan? ANY AND ALL information or advice would be amazing!
  4. Frankly, I'm not sure if this was correct or not, but I'm in the same position. Since I am not planning on working (literally quitting here within a few weeks), I put down that I am not employed full time. Hopefully that wasn't the totally wrong thing to do, but I didn't want my full time employment and paychecks to make it look like I will have the same financial status as when I'm in school... Hopefully that helps and doesn't steer you in any wrong direction!!
  5. Thank you for posting this!! I was just accepted into grad school (after starting to think it just wasn't in my cards)... Now comes the fun stress of starting grad school!! This post was super helpful and comforting. I know it will be hard, but it always at least helps a little knowing someone else is in the same boat, and everyone else is probably stressed and nervous too! So, thank you!!
  6. This morning I received an email/portal update saying I have been added to the waitlist for Jacksonville. We are supposed to fill out a form accepting the waitlist position if we are still interested in being considered. *If you have been accepted into Jacksonville and are NOT planning on going, PLEASE PLEASE let them know ASAP!** Then they sent out a 2nd email because the link to fill out this form isn't available right now and they are working with IT to get it fixed. The letter that was on the 2nd email was VERY different from the letter on the portal. (The portal was super optimistic and the email, not so much). Did anyone else get these updates??
  7. I applied to Valdosta. On 12/17 I received an email that said the following: Thank you for your application to the MED Communication Disorders program! I wanted to contact you to confirm that all required documents are received for your application to be reviewed. All applications will be sent to the department after the deadline (March 3,2017) Now my portal says: Departmental review pending. sending for review 03.10.17 (<-- that last part is pretty new, so at least the status is changing!)
  8. I just emailed Maryville today to see if they have any updates... I saw someone posted in the results that they were accepted yesterday (to Maryville), so it's gotta be any day now!
  9. Still waiting on pretty much all of mine!! George Washington University, Maryville, LSU Baton Rouge, Jacksonville University, Valdosta, and ENMU
  10. I know we're all a bit anxious, so I don't feel quite as bad for asking... but has anyone heard anything from Maryville? Their email said they were hoping to have decisions emailed out by the end of February... I know it's only 2 days past that deadline but I was just curious if ANYONE has gotten a response or reached out at all??
  11. I just graduated in December, 2014 with my B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech Pathology). I decided to work full time after graduating to save up some money and start paying off my loans. Also with how competitive grad school is, I figured I'd wait until I was truly ready to go back to school -- also, I was obviously nervous about potentially not being accepted! (like every other SLP student haha) My question is, how did everyone go about getting letters of recommendation?? I didn't really create relationships with professors when I was in school. I did just fine in my classes, I just was never the one to go up and talk to them or really get to know my professors. Call me shy, but I wasn't exactly a "teacher's pet". Now that I'm about 6 months removed from school, and considering starting the process of applying to grad schools, I'm super nervous about how to go about getting letters written for me! If I didn't establish those relationships when I WAS in school, how can I expect professors to remember me enough to write anything about me?? Any advice would be super appreciated!! This is one of the things that I am most stressed about!! Thanks!!
