Applied to the UCR Entomology Program, haven't heard anything back either.
Asked my POI and my application hasn't been looked at yet.
Question: How do graduate students procure housing? If I come, I'll be moving from the east coast with my dog. Is it typically easy to find 2 or 3 roommates?

Every time i check my email i'm already halfway wincing.
Just noticed one of my UGA letter writers never submitted. I'm more upset bc she WORKS there, less upset bc I would never choose it over PSU, UIUC, or UCR. So I guess I didn't really "apply" to UGA
But really... I paid that fee for nothing :/

update on my penn state eff up: told my graduate coordinator about the mix up. she asked for my transcript.
Maybe it wasn't such a big deal since she didn't even mention it in her email to me. wtf?
i guess i'll see where funding goes. worse case scenario, i withdraw my app. best case scenario: i go there!

emailed AND called graduate enrollment services.
my issue has bee forwarded to my coordinator and she'll probably get back to me tomorrow.
So I think I'm okay. They lady I talked to made it seem like this has happened before.
So now I can be excited about my acceptance without freaking out!

@haltheincandescent was your penn state acceptance like that? did you have to accept the department's admission first? did i mess up?

In my excitement about Penn State, I think I accepted their offer.
The application said I had to accept the department's offer to move to the next step of the graduate college accepting it. I figured they have the final say so I could still get rejected.
Apparently it's binding and now I'm scrambling to find a way to reverse it without looking ungrateful.
I'm still waiting on 1 more school, have to weigh funding packages, AND still need to go to the actual recruiting weekends! FUUUUUUUUUU
I'll keep you guys updated

Got an email about "important information regarding you graduate application" and of COURSE my computer was slow as cold molasses.
But I'm half-way accepted to Penn State! The department wants me so now it's up to the Graduate College to realize I'm the chosen one.

@Pink Fuzzy Bunny my same sentiment if i move to riverside! penn state and uiuc are leaps and bounds more affordable! especially since i'd love to live by myself with my dog
i'm slowly becoming okay with the fact that i'll need 2-4 roommates

heck yes! i want some really nice fine point pens, probably the muji brand.
I've really romanticized the idea of being a TA and grading papers exclusively in purple or green ink.
I'm also dabbling in the idea of having a kind of uniform to help minimize my amount of clothing.

Also, I assume I'll know my Penn State Admission Status after the recruitment weekend the first weekend in february.
So while that is promising, it puts some pressure on the visit to make sure I seem like a good fit!

Is making a wishlist of possible school supplies a way to stay sane? or an indicator of impending crazy?

My app was due jan 5. But the dept didnt start looking at them until the 9th from what ive been told
Now im freaking out! UCR has the PI i reeeaaallllyyy want to work under.

Looks like UCR sends acceptances later than other schools.

One of my schools hasnt even started LOOKING at my application!
Why are they doing this to me, I'm going to be the best thing thats ever happened to them if they give me a chance!
I have my penn state recruiting weekend and i am freaking out. Havent even STARTED looking at papers to bring up. It seems like only 1 day is formal, so thats good.

1 missing recommendation for UGA, and 2 missing for UFL.
I'm going to take this as a cosmic sign bc they were master's programs and I'm focusing on the PhD programs.
I think the recommendation notices got lost in holiday email seeing as how they were sent out once the application was submitted and i finished the apps during thanksgiving holiday.
Can't be super mad since I didn't keep up with those 2 app like my other 3. C'est la vie
