Agh! That's gotta be the most frustrating thing. Honestly, if you have any friends that have better Internet hit them up, regardless of how well you know them!
-
Seriously though, on the results page how do people not know the name of their university? I can understand people saying "Maaasssaaaaaachusetts" like some of them do but "Colorado University Boulder" instead of "University of Colorado"?!
-
$2000?! I don't think that my hand is capable of writing out a rent check for that amount. Here in Champaign-Urbana if you fork out $800 for rent, you are probably living in a really upscale apartment complex (and/or close to campus). Also, I've made 156 posts on this website? I need a life...
-
Hey, I live right by UIUC. Let me know if you need help... but yes, so much more affordable! Right now I'm in a reasonably nice one-bedroom and pay $550 a month. I've always lived in this area so the thought of paying $900/mo for an apartment is just unthinkable to me!
-
Generally (from what I've read on this forum, that's my only experience) telling other schools to hurry up is a really bad idea. And when is your deposit deadline? If it's soon... that's a tough decision. But for sure wait until the last minute.
-
Me, too. I don't really drink so I feel like a lost puppy. But that's who they're there to help - lost puppies!

Go to a nice liquor place like Binny's or Friar Tuck's and ask an employee. Just say "I have a friend who likes Cab Sauv and Merlot and here is our price range" and they will give you a few options

That sounds horrible. I lived on the bottom story of my building for one semester before deciding enough was enough, since I'm the same way. I also tried all of those things to no avail.... I'm so sorry Now I'm the one on the top floor making all the racket (seriously last night my desk fell apart at 3AM. My poor downstairs neighbor...) Also, at least if I move to Boulder, I'll be lucky if I can afford an apartment with a refrigerator, let alone have enough money left over to decorate it!

School supplies? Like what? Notebooks, pencils?
-
I just realized it's the same for me. I've heard from some that had deadlines in mid-November, and some that have deadlines in February. But the December 15 ones? Nope!
-
Ah... some of you are just much more on top of things than I am. I waited until the day before apps were due (December 15)
-
Your deadlines were in mid-October and you still haven't heard back? I'd have lost my sanity long ago... I did apply for a fellowship that was due in mid-October and I won't hear back until April... but fellowships aren't nearly as big of a deal as getting in somewhere.

Freakout mornings are the worst! That's when you just sit in a comfy chair, eat some pancakes and bacon, and give the universe the middle finger.
-
The whole admissions committee will be Skyping you?! Holy crap, man! Good luck!
-
I don't really think it matters. I sent mine out after they submitted their letters. I also just sent an update email (since I've heard back from half of my schools) then I'll send another one when I decide. I mean, put yourselves in their shoes... they don't care about being thanked, they just want you to do well
-
@haltheincandescent Sounds like tomorrow will fry your nerves quite a bit... best of luck! And yes... definitely send out party balloons. I feel the same way about my professors... they are the main reason I was even a reasonable applicant for graduate school. I just have no idea how to express my gratitude
-
Right?! I've told my mom about some of you way too many times. "One of my friends did...." "Oh, how do you know them?" "I... uh...."
-
How I feel about waiting for those decisions... memes

I had the opposite problem. Did a summer program at my top choice uni (Boulder) and I tutored a bit for some of the undergrad courses. It was embarrassing... I didn't know anything!!
-
So late in the month too! Good luck
-
And the same with you. The same with all of you, really. I like looking and seeing when you guys add a few more "greens" or "blues" into your signatures. I'm on this forum so often that I've sort of memorized who's gotten in where... so sad
-
True, true... I started out not thinking I wouldn't get accepted anywhere (my school is shoddy, my subject GRE score would make an adcomm frown) but now that I have six, I'm extremely greedy and for some reason think I can maybe get into Yale or Cornell. So my anxiety is a bit misplaced for sure

I didn't know /r/gradschool was a thing. WHY HAVE YOU GIVEN ME ANOTHER SOURCE FOR ANXIETY
