  1. Congrats GET, I just saw your post. Still waiting for some news... yet I’m not that optimistic! I feel like I’m gonna get rejected!
  2. Hi guys, I hope you are doing well. I have two very serious question! 1- How important is GRE? Your scores are awesome! It's like a dream to me to get above 160 in verbal! I think the best I can do is to get 155. My TOEFL score is great though... 2- Have you published any papers?
  3. Hi there, I'm also applying for phd programs this year. to be honest I'm absolutely stressed about the whole process. Currently I'm doing my second masters in a great university in Turkey. B.A and M.A in English Literature, and now studying Media and Visual Studies. I hope we stick together till the end of applications, and hopefully celebrate our success here.
  4. Hi, and good luck with your exams and applications. As far as I know, most of the students don't need GRE subject, but some recommend it. I suggest that before starting the process, check the universities' website and gather the information you need.
  5. Good one bro, that's like the answer to my concerns too.
  6. I still have 6 universities to go, but I know the feeling. I think I'll be rejected and I have to apply for fall 2017. To skip the embarrassment part, I suggest you a white lie! If anyone asks you about the results, say I've got an admission without fund, so you figured out it's better to wait another year and give it a try. I know lying is neither ethical nor a solution, but what's the harm in this lie? Nothing!!! Just stay focused and never give up! You can do a lot as dear Wendy said, I'm planning to do the same this year. Good luck with future, my friend.
  7. I think you'd better call, what will be the harm? At least you'll know your chances
  8. Where can we see the results? i check d the website an hour ago
  9. I have the same situation. We may talk more, and if don't get the chance this year, we can create it next year, never give up on your dreams!
  10. Good for you dear Wendy, congratulations. I wish you the best. And I also hope all of us be successful in our applications, at least our presence here shows we are all enthusiastic about this, we can satisfy their expectations as a graduate student.
  11. Hi, thanks for your respond. Yes, I have MA in English Literature. I wrote my writing sample in MLA style. I know 4 languages, and my SOP was good, according to people I talked to. I never attended conferences, and I'm aware of the fact that that's the weakest part of my CV. Giving up is the worst part of anyone's life, and I'm not a quitter, so I'll try again next year. But I wish I could have the chance to follow my studies this year, since my country is not stable in politics, and I may lose the chance of studying abroad if someone like Donald Trump wins the presidential election. Even by putting aside this bitter fact, waiting another 18 months is the worst part I could think about. I liked your last sentence and I'm exactly doing the same, I prepared myself for the worst part: no admissions, if I get one I'll be extremely happy, but if I don't, at least I won't break. Thanks again for your post, I wish we could be in contact more, and who knows, maybe I get the admission and I get the chance to meet all you guys.
  12. It seems we both have the exact same problem ! You with Notre Dame and me with UPenn. It would be funny if you get you admission to ND and me to UPenn :-D I hope just one of these universities accept me, for an Iranian like me it's a long devastating time to go throgh the whole process once again! I have these universities to go: Syracuse, Washington, Florida, Arkansas, North Eastern, UPenn, Vanderbilt
  13. Maybe you are right. I got my rejection last week, so you may have been gone through some filters and I didn't!!! I have the sams issue with UPenn. I hope this is the case for me too. sometimes it comes to mind that maybe I'm such a weak applicant that they don't even check the case or consider it as 100% rejection.
  14. Hi everybody congrats to all! I have a question about UPenn, people got interviews, but I didn't recieve email or anything! Does it mean I'm rejected? Or they are still working on cases??? I checked the online portal and my status is still "submitted " Thanks
  15. Believe me, I'm disappointed! I've already started my studies for fall 2017 application! This waiting thing is killing me. btw, I know, I think we all deserve at least an interview! they don't know what we've been through to get here, and rejecting like this absolutely not fair! I will email them and ask for reasons, at least it would help me with next year's process. I wish you get the admission from that U in Ireland.
  16. oh, sorry, I meant applying to Notre Dame by mentioning "I did" ! I didn't get an interview! I just received the email ! But apparently some have been interviewed ! I'm from a Muslim country, and I thought there is a very high probability that they reject me because of the university's religious affiliation. But I really felt down by receiving Miami's reject letter.
  17. Congrats all with acceptance! and I wish the best for the waitlists, I hope you get admitted ? Although I'm feeling down, but I still have 7 universities left. Please lord, just 1 admission?
  18. Good for you man! I'm just wishing for an offer! If I had to decide, the program and the city would have been the factors to think about.
  19. Hi, yes I did, and I got rejected. I received an email. I have the same problem with uPenn, people are going through interviews, but I'm still in the dark!!!
  20. I didn't receive any emails from Upenn, and I checked their portal and there is no change in my status! Am I rejected or something? people have been interviewed and I'm still waiting...
  21. I've got rejected from Notre Dame and University of Miami, Ohio. I'm still waiting for: Rochester, Syracuse, University of Florida, Arkansas, North Eastern, Upenn, Vanderbilt, and Washington. I just want to be accepted to one of the programs and pursue my dream course in any of them.
