  1. Hey, what's up? If UIUC was your first choice and you are already accepted (with full funding I suppose), I would not waste my money-time applying to other schools. You don't need a Plan B if you are already accepted and funded. While it is true that you can end up getting more money in other schools (in case that you apply and get accepted), they still won't be your first choice anyway. So I wouldn't do it if I were you and I will accept as soon as possible to start preparing all the paper work in advance. Well, congratulations and I hope it helps!
  2. Oh, I'm not alone! good luck with the 4 left to go!
  3. Yes, It was hard to complete all of the applications, and expensive too. Thus I just spend Christmas in total misery, New Year looks the same. Yes, I have a master. Now, we just have to wait with patience, shaking of expectation while we hold an espresso in our hands, lol. I'll keep you posted!
  4. Hey, I am also really stressed! I just submitted my applications too. I'm applying to 11 PhD Programs (mostly in the East Coast). I will reveal the universities little by little when I hear back from them to keep it interesting. I guess we will start hearing back from them in the middle of January, right? Good luck!
  5. Lauracol, I know it's not your first choice but I contacted Cornell today and it seems that the 3 students admitted to the field in Spanish have been already contacted. So, the only way to get in is that one of those people decide not to attend which I don't think it's going to happen. Dulcinea, I am going to University of Washington, only enrolled to the Master Program. I am very happy about it.
  6. Ok, I hope this anxiety ends soon with whatever response I receive. I found this webpage after I submitted all my applications and it's now when I realized that I could've prepared my apps better (improve GRE, more publications and better writing sample). Anyhow, let's see what happens with Cornell (it was my first option). Applied to 4 and I already got two rejections and 1 acceptance.
  7. Congratulations for your acceptances. I am still waiting for Cornell, have you heard back from them? I am kind of loosing my hope now.
  8. Hello everyone, I am starting to freak out since today is Feb 23rd and I haven't heard from Cornell since the application - Romace Studies (Spanish) PhD. I saw there's one person accepted in the program (decision date: Jan 31st). What are my chances? Should I contact the POI? Do you know how many students are admitted per year? If you have any information, I will appreciate it! THANKS!
