  1. If anyone going to the University of Alabama for library science sees this, would you like to join a facebook group? Over 4,000 people have seen my previous post but only 3 other people attending Alabama have responded. I will be in the on campus cohort and would love to start a group.
  2. Congrats everyone! I'm already registered. I'm so excited to attend that I already ordered a book or two lol So far it seems like library science textbooks are relatively cheaper than what I'm used to paying for
  3. My decision was sent in an e-mail and through the mail. I got the e-mail about a week before the mail letter.
  4. I applied by the December 1st deadline for on campus applicants. It seems like they must go through two different acceptance processes for the two terms.
  5. They have been very communicative with me but I was accepted a few weeks ago. It sucks that they are taking so much time to get back to y'all.
  6. I have an acquaintance who hasn't heard back either. I guess the sheer number of applicants might slow them down, but still.
  7. It's crazy that they wait so late to review applications when admission decisions are due by April 15th! Have you heard back yet?
  8. You were right. I was 15/200 people to get a GAship! Feeling lucky
  9. Awesome! Good luck! I think I will accept my admission there soon, just waiting to see if I for sure want to move there.
  10. I just got back a few today and replied to your earlier comment! I forgot about this forum for a while. Did you apply to Alabama? I have heard good things from my friends (all three are now employed at libraries)
  11. I was friends with online campus students. They already had jobs. My friend John is employed at a community college as a librarian now so it treated him well.
  12. I totally forgot about this thread while finishing my current master's defense over the last few months lol I got into University of Alabama (graduate assistant offer and half funding), University of Wisconsin, LSU, and the University of Oklahoma!
  13. I am a little familiar as I know two people who went and applied. What's up?
  14. Hey Neist,

You commented on my U of Oklahoma library science post a while back. I just got in (much earlier than expected). I'm planning to apply for an assistantship, but I can't find anywhere that says how much they actually pay graduate assistants. Do you have any idea? I'm comparing a few options of other schools so it'd be nice to know what the going rate is.

  15. I'm only applying to schools that offer some kind of assistantship, but if I don't get any offers, I'll probably just take out a loan. I have luckily been almost 75% funded so far, so I don't mind going a little more in debt.
  16. I noticed that no one has started a discussion for this year's application. I don't know if all the potential librarians post on another site or something, but I would love to talk to other people applying for Fall 2018 season. I am applying to UW-Madison, University of Tennessee, University of Alabama, Texas Woman's University, University of North Carolina Greensboro, University of Oklahoma, and Louisiana State University. Is anyone else applying there? I will be completing my first master's in May. It is in English literature. Has anyone heard if having another master's might give an edge when applying for a second? Or does anyone have any info about any of those schools that they would like to share?
  17. Does anyone know if there is a list of Library Science programs that fund incoming students? I have found the University of Arizona, University of North Texas, University of Texas -Austin, and the University of Oklahoma. I see that Simmons has limited opportunities as well. I do not want to apply to schools that do not offer some possibility of a fellowship or tuition remission. Can anyone add to my list?

I think that's a pretty decent area. I used to live near the Dean / Glenn intersection over near where Alan Avenue is. It was a lot of non-college students with kids though.

Yep, that's what I'm referring too. It's a little link at the bottom And yeah, if you got that e-mail, then I'm sure you are fine.

My experience has been great, too. I received an e-mail from the graduate school with a link to the official letter. If you login at your original application place, you should have an option to view the decision. I also received an e-mail today with orientation information.
