  1. I also had pretty similar scores and got into an R1 clinical psych PhD. My other background included 2 years as a research assistant post-bac in a lab closely related to what I applied in and an honors project in an unrelated area of psychology. It is definitely possible! I wish you the best of luck!
  2. I don't think your GPA will hurt your application too much. A lot of the clinical programs that I applied to asked for junior/senior year GPA in addition to overall GPA, and there were some that also looked at psychology GPA separately, which would definitely work in your favor. I think schools are in general pretty understanding of how difficult pre-med courses are, and it sounds to me like the other areas of your application (research, letters of rec) will be very strong. If you apply to programs that match closely with your research interests and have a strong GRE score and personal statement, I don't think a 3.5 would make it a bad application. I'm only one person so I can't speak for all programs or applicants, but my GPA was very close to 3.5 and I ended up being accepted to a clinical program that I absolutely love!
  3. This semester I'm taking: Neurobiology of Disease Graduate Stats for Social Science Intro to Therapies My lab research also counts as a course. So far I feel like it's a good balance between classes and research time... thankfully not too much reading for my courses.
  4. I went to this year's interview weekend for UCLA, and it was February 4th-6th. All of the other interview invites that I received were also for the same weekend, except for the University of Kentucky, which was the last weekend in January. I went to UW for undergrad, and from what I saw, the clinical psych interview weekend was usually in late February. I'm not 100% sure on that one though, because I didn't apply to UW for grad school. It seemed to me like early February was definitely the most popular interview time. Early January seemed a lot less popular, so I think you would be safer to travel then. I hope this helps a little!
  5. I probably won't have a car during my first year there, so I'm definitely looking at places that are close to the bus lines. I've mainly been looking at places near University Heights, since that's close enough to the U of I hospitals for me, and it seems a little bit cheaper than downtown Iowa City.
  6. Hi! I'll be starting my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at University of Iowa this fall. I'm taking a trip there next month to look for an apartment. I'm really excited to see what the city looks like during the spring, since my interview was in early February.
