  1. @KJE88 I believe that if you are waitlisted you can opt for a seat in the part-time program! I did this anyhow (just finishing the program this semester, accepted to the 1yr Laurier MSW for 2018.) I called Marion when I was initially waitlisted, and she told me that the previous year 3 people got off the list, and it had 12 on it. She couldn't tell me my exact position, but said that I had "JUST" missed that top 3 cut off, so there was a chance I might not get off it and she offered me a seat in the part-time program, and it was the BEST decision of my life. Everyone in my cohort had practical work experience which really helped in terms of our learning and growing with each other, and taking fewer classes meant I could still work, and I think a lot of the part-time cohort got better grades than the full time, which is SO important for msw's after. I would seriously consider this option, and then do the 1yr at Laurier after!
  2. I found LORIS really confusing.. But when I clicked on display admissions application, and then clicked on the MSW link I think before it went straight to my supplemental documentation, and then after I received my acceptance email when I opened the MSW page it had changed to the same congratulations blurb as in the email. I was so stressed about not seeing anything regarding an actual decision for the longest time! So don't panic about not seeing the status!
  3. I received an advanced standing offer from Laurier this morning! It came to my email. On LORIS after clicking on "Masters of Social Work" that was updated as well, and is where I formally accept the offer. I can't believe my wait is finally over.. hopefully more people find out soon! Some background context: I completed my BSW at Renison, (was originally waitlisted there and Lakehead, got an offer from Lakehead but declined it to accept a part time place at Renison.) I have 5000+ hours between developmental services/seniors supports and addictions/mental health, 92 average in my BSW. If there is anything this whole journey taught me it is definitely that the timing doesn't always make sense in the moment, but things happen when they are supposed to. I had two rejections in previous years for other programs, two BSW waitlists, and rejections for the two year programs at U of T, and Laurier... so I've definitely experienced my share of rejection and disappointment. But everything happens for a reason, and I'm so glad that those rejections lead me to increasing my work experience and skill, and I know myself so much better than previous years. So, if this isn't the year it happens for any of you don't lose faith! Social work isn't an easy path, but it will certainly work out the way it is meant to!
  4. I received an offer for Lakehead's HBSW off the waitlist on Friday, but I declined it. Hopefully someone else off the waitlist from here gets the email
  5. I'm excited! I actually think doing the program part time will be better for me, since I can still work a little, and still have enough time to get really good grades yes I finished them all last year, so its been nice having a bit of a break from being in school. Yesterday when I talked to Marion she said I shouldn't hold out for getting off the waitlist, since I wasn't in the next 2-3 people, so I asked out of my prides sake if I was at least in the top half of it, and yes laughed and said yes So I'm guessing I was probably 4th or 5th. I'm so glad to be done waiting and stressing! I did apply to Lakehead Orillia too, but at least now I'm stressing over hearing back from them
  6. Well I finally decided to sign up and post as well. I was waitlisted for Renison's BSW, and yesterday I accepted a spot in their part time BSW! Marion said that they aren't expecting more than another 2-3 people to get off the waitlist, so I'm glad that I secured a spot
