  1. Thanks for your reply. No I have not taken the GRE. Would Magoosh be a good program to rely on? Some of my research interests are cultural competent interventions, neuroscience, and severe and persistent mental illnesses. So far, the only professor that I have found that is a perfect fit is at the University of Southern California (which would be my #1 choice). I know I need to apply to several other programs to be safe. Thank you Hk328! I did not know that about for profit schools.
  2. Hello all! I was hoping to know if I stand a chance for clinical psychology programs and if I should even bother applying at all! 3. Well it looks like I didn't receive anything
  4. For the Philanthropic or Dean's scholarship? Because last week I was notified that I was selected as a MSW recipient with an award of $15,000. Maybe you'll receive one as well!
  5. Hi there! I'll be attending in the Fall as well! A little worried over tuition, but still excited to start. Haha
  6. Thanks so much for the update! I am so nervous now haha
  7. Has anyone heard back from any scholarships?? (Deans or Philanthropic)
  8. Hey, congrats! USC was the only school I applied to and got in. However, I have decided to face the tuition charges because in the end only you can make that choice. I didn't apply anywhere else because I couldn't see myself happy at another school. Also, I have looked into the program and I am very interested in getting involved in clubs and research projects. So it is really up to you!
  9. Nope, I'm pretty bummed out. At the info session they said that once a person is admitted, you will know on that same day if you received the MSW Scholarship award, which is awarded to you based on your overall application. I honestly thought I would have received some funding, oh well.
  10. I didn't ask for an extended time, I just accepted the offer. However, i am pretty sure they'll give you an extension. Also, I'm curious, did they inform you if you received any scholarships?
  11. Thanks so much! I wish you all luck
  12. Hey guys, I got my acceptance today!!!
  13. Just wanted to update you all that at the information session they said that we should be receiving our answers this month! So it should be anytime now.
  14. That's odd, I didn't know they did that either. :/ Good luck though!
  15. When I spoke to the admissions counselor she said that they take into consideration your GPA for your last 60 semester units and major GPA. Also, she said that we would hear a decision between mid January and early February, so it should be anytime soon I hope! Last year applicants heard as early as February 2, I'm so nervous!
  16. Hi there! I applied to USC in October. I am hoping to receive some scholarships because the admissions counselor told me over the phone that the sooner you apply the more chances you have of receiving them. However, I am still worried since this is the only school i applied to :/
  17. Yes I have, but I decided to just apply to USC. I turned in my applications about a month ago. How about you?
  18. Hello all, I submitted my application on 10/17. I sent my transcripts on 10/20 and was just wondering if anyone knows if I will receive a notification when my application is complete or under faculty review? Thanks in advance!
  19. Hello, I recently attended an information session at CSULB and they said that the average GPA of applicants is 3.1, but don't let this discourage you! Grad programs look at the applications as a whole.
  20. Hi! I'll be applying to CSULB, USC, and CSULA.
  21. Hello, You have nothing to worry about! Your GPA is really high and you have plenty of experience. All that you would need to focus on is writing a personal statement, but I am positive that you will get in! Also, I am worried about getting into USC (MSW/PhD Dual Program) and CSULB (MSW) . My stats are: Cumulative GPA: 3.45; Human Development GPA:3.81; Psychology GPA: 3.54 Received a B in Stats and also took Advanced Stats and received a B as well. I have been volunteering for 7 months at a State Mental Hospital and shadow and assist Social Workers, Psychologists and Psychiatrists. I am a Research Lab assistant for a Developmental Psychology lab that focuses on children's gender, ethnicity, and culture. Also, I am Research Lab Assistant in a Neuroscience and Forensic Psychology lab. Was a Statistics Assistant for a professor in the Human Development department. Was a volunteer/mentor for an organizations that helps low income children. Can anyone please give me any feedback?
