Absolutely go ahead with it. Even if you can ask only completely generic questions, take it. Can't hurt. Your not taking it will hurt your chances for sure.

Bookchin reacted to Kantattheairport in 2018 Acceptance/Rejection Thread
All right friends, a little panicky. One of my waitlist institutions offered to Skype with me. Regardless of my chances, which are the customary 'non-zero', it seems to me that it would basically be stupid of me to not take up the offer to chat... but I don't really have any questions about the program at this late stage. So, what should I do to not make a complete fool of myself? Should I even go ahead with a Skype meeting? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I didn't get a rejection from UNC?? What does that mean? Are they just late in sending out rejections??

Can I just say, Jessica Moss just seems like such a genuinely kind person. Even when she's conveying bad news. So thankful for faculty like that.

How many speech act theorists does it take to change a light bulb?
*Do you really want to know or are you simply asking me to change it?*

Declined Rutgers' offer. And that's it for me this season.

Thought I'd jump in and just say that if the future resembles the past, UNC only lets prospective students know they're on the waitlist if they're being invited to the prospective weekend. From what I can tell, all people come to the prospective weekend this year are accepted. Otherwise, prospective students sit in limbo until enough people reject offers so that they need to pull deeper from the waitlist (this has happened the past two years with people being given an acceptance on the deadline day in April). I don't have any official knowledge on this, but based on what UNC looks for when creating a cohort, I doubt the waitlist is strictly ranked and that there are multiple factors that go into deciding who gets an acceptance next.
Hopefully, some of that helps! I'd say day before/day of the deadline would not be a bad day to check your status at UNC if it would change your decision. Someone in the cohort below me emailed Laurie the deadline day and was told to wait to make any decisions for some specific period of time to hear back from another applicant.
Again, I have no official knowledge of the issue, I haven't talked to Laurie, the adcom, or prospective weekend organizers, but based on my experience as a former prospective weekend organizer, so this is my educated speculation and so on and so on and so on.

Got the WL email for Hopkins this morning and an acceptance from UCSD just now. I lost my shit alittle about UCSD. Only four schools remaining, I absolutely cannot wait to be finished and start narrowing/planning.

Hi @cjm720 ! I am a recent graduate of MSU's philosophy department. I can't say anything about how difficult it would be to get into the MA or PhD program, but I can answer any questions you have about faculty or the department in general.
Seeing that you are going to law school, I am guessing that you want to practice law. If this is the case, I wouldn't worry too much about school reputation as it probably won't play that big of a role in your career. What matters is getting a good education, and MSU can provide that.
Feel free to DM me if you any specific questions!

Hi, I'm new to this thread, though I submitted some results. I am currently in at UCLA, UPenn, Harvard. My AOI is political (and moral) philosophy.
I am still waiting for a few decisions more, but UCLA and Harvard are my top choices. I will try to make my decisions ASAP. Hope that means good news to those on the waitlist!

I was accepted to MSU today via email, so hopefully they'll release more results throughout the weekend! Best luck to you!

Amazing, thank you. It's nice to know someone else who's applied with one Congrats on you admission and funding, that's amazing! One of my favourite profs went there for his undergrad in history and then continued onto harvard for his masters and phd, so it must be a great school

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on how to disclose a disability when applying for grad school. I was born legally blind and would like the admissions committee to be aware of this. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

I was holding up well for the past 2 months, but I think I've hit my limit: Hearing nothing from any of the schools I've applied to has finally become intolerable.
Congratulations to everyone who's been accepted so far; Godspeed to everyone still waiting!
