I did. It's possible! I had little hope to get one (I applied for the SSHRC), since I thought I was too far on the list, but ended up getting one hsnl is right about the CIHR though, it's much harder to get given the lower number of awards available...

@summerlee I received an offer late last week through the CGS-M website
-
That's about when I e-mailed as well. I'll let you know for sure!
-
I was told I was 12th when I contacted them, but I'm not sure whether that was in the original list, or after I had already moved a bit because of people declining their offers over the week-end. Hope you get an offer as well!
-
Thanks for the update! Also, you got an offer for sure! I was waiting for my offer in order to actually get an acceptance from Concordia for my program (the supervisor would only take me if I had an award secured) and I've been accepted not long ago, along with getting a SSHRC (but didn't get the official offer of SSHRC through the portal yet)! And I was way further away on the list than you. So you're probably good

Congrats! Yes do it for sure! I'll be declining my offer from Windsor as well, so if there are any people on the waitlist, I hope it will help one of you

I know right! I'm really apprehensive of asking for the extension as that explicitly sends the message to the second choice school that they are second choice =P But then again, those kinds of things are to be expected I guess and the schools must be used to it. My guess is that the logistics of giving everyone a "second" deadline are difficult to manage, but indeed you'd hope there would be a better system in place for people like us

I'm in a very similar situation, and after thorough panicking throughout last week, I am thinking of asking for an extension as well... Though hsnl has a good point here, I think the deadline might be the 18th as well due to the 15th falling on the week-end. But then again I don't know if this will help us.

Thanks for the info! that's a long wait =/

Did you end up getting an offer in the past few days @rgood? I'm curious if they make the offers on a rolling basis, or whether they wait until the 21 day period of decision has passed...

I think going into a research Masters or PhD in Psychology will be the best bet for you. If you think you will enjoying doing research in that field, you can apply for a masters in a University that has a faculty who does research in the field of dreaming. I have encountered a few of those throughout the Canadian Universities while researching potential supervisors for my applications. You can easily find them by looking through the faculty of the Universities that interest you. Shoot them an email stating that you'd be interested in working them as a grad student. Talk about what interests you of the field, and a few ideas you might have that relate to their current research. Writing a quick email will help you know which prof is looking for grad students for the upcoming application cycle, which will be September 2018 in Canada. I would think with your GPA you stand a fair chance, especially given that you're doing honours and so are probably getting research experience. This would be the route if you're interested in research solely. If you're interested in working clinically though, you would have to consider the clinical programs, which are much more competitive (and not worth the trouble and headaches (jesus that application process hell.... =.=) if you're solely interested in research). I would also recommend you ask the graduate studies or the prof you're interested in working with if you might be able to skip Masters and apply right away into a PhD. This is sometimes possible given that you will have a honours degree. Hope this somehow helps you get started

Thanks RBspkRuP and sonsofeasterly! I think contacting the grad studies is fair!
-
Whom would you contact, if you don't mind me asking? Is there a funding committee secretary? Or would you contact your program secretary?
-
Congrats! All the hard work has finally paid off!

Yup, I got this too. It's interesting actually, if you check the updated dates, for me for example, only one of them has changed to today's date, i.e. only one of the universities I applied to. Again, I'm not sure what that means anyway

Yes it's the same for me... exactly the same situation as you. I freaked out this morning when people said they were rejected and went to check, but nothing has changed....

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I read a bit earlier in this thread that not all POI's carry out one. So stressful to be in the dark!

Did you get an interview with your POI?

I think it's very reasonable to contact your POI, especially after an interview. From experience, it's always appreciated when you thank your POI after the interview, and I would think it rude not to do so (just as you would send a thank you note after a job interview). It doesn't have to be very long. I would actually just ask about when I should expect to hear back during the interview (like at the end of it). Only if it's been a long time that you haven't heard back, or if you have a decision to make, I would send an email asking about it. I'm sure the POI understands, remember that they've probably been through the same thing, and remember it quite well

Each school evaluates the candidates who have applied for governmental funding with them (a candidate gets up to 5 University picks to apply to in a given year), and submit their pick to the government committees who approve the final choice. But all of them have a limit date near mid-April when they have to let students know of their standing. This is what I understood from their website at least
