  1. I received my results yesterday, and only got an email prompting me to accept or decline the reward this morning. It seems that there are no email notifications that results are available at all. I never got one this whole time. My score was 16.40 / 20 and I got the Bombardier. Last year I didn't even get past the institutional selection stage, so don't know what my score would have been. Good luck everyone!!! I hope it all comes to a close soon and we can all process what happened without all this uncertainty.
  2. That's quite likely. FRQSC had set a clear deadline for results to be released on April 30th, so probably SSHRC needed to meet it as well for Quebec students.
  3. Yes, that's what I did too. Just kept refreshing every 2 to 5 minutes? It just appeared at 11:40. And got no email yet either.

    FRQSC 2020

Yes, I agree. I will talk about this with my supervisor and see what he thinks and whether he knows what might be behind the lack of extra rounds. It seems extremely weird. I was lucky enough to just receive a SSHRC but for those who don't extra rounds could be such lifesavers.
  5. Same! Just got the CGS-D!! Notified about 5 minutes ago on the Extranet and no email! I am at a Quebec institution and got my login mid-afternoon yesterday. Hang in there everyone! This is a wild ride. I got rejected from the FRQSC just about an hour ago and thought that this was it, no way I would get SSHRC. There is truly no way of predicting this, so don't get too focused on the timing, my impression is that really there is no way of knowing.

    FRQSC 2020

Agreed... I don't understand where that money goes...

    FRQSC 2020

I was ranked 8th out of 23 in my committee and there were 6 awards available. Really too bad that FRQSC does not have second or third rounds if someone rejects their award. It seems like quite a few of us might get funded if that was the case.

    FRQSC 2020

Just got my letter; didn't get the funded either ? It appeared under the "Visualiser" section. Second year applying.
  9. For all who are wondering about Concordia, their interview day is Thursday the 24th. They are interviewing fewer people than usual this year, less than 15 candidates, because not many labs are accepting new students.
  10. Sent an email to the lady who sent the payment information earlier today, she said she suspended the payment and forwarded my email to someone who can deal with this.
  11. I have the same issue. And they just sent an email indicating that they have sent the money already =.= I indicated in my application that I had a SSHRC, but I guess they didn't see. I will call her soon to ask what I can do.
  12. This happened last year as well, when I applied. It means that a decision has been reached for your application, and it has been posted. But you only get to see what it is on April 1st. They let all applicants access their statuses starting at midnight on April 1st.
  13. I had interviewed at Windsor last year as well, and that was my impression too, based on what I saw and heard from the students and faculty there. They focus heavily on the clinical practice side of things, and their students are very good clinicians by the end of it. Even though it seemed like some faculty there were trying to change things, and put more emphasis on research, overall my impression was that research was not the focus of that program. It seemed as though because of that, most students ended up not receiving external funding. Also, they do not promise funding to you (unless maybe your supervisor has a grant or something and they can afford it). So there is no guaranteed funding from year to year. I think they give you a 7 000$ entrance award in the first year of your masters, and then another entrance award for the PhD, but the rest of the time you get nothing. There are opportunities for TAing though. I was interested in a balance between clinical training and research, and was lucky enough to receive an offer from my first choice later on. If you like research, then Windsor is probably not the best choice. If you're more interested in clinical practice, then Windsor is an interesting option. Try applying at the Master's level, if you don't mind re-doing a Master's. Or try getting some practical experience in a clinical setting, or with vulnerable populations. In my cohort, some people were able to get into the program at the PhD level like that, even though they had a Master's in experimental psychology. I hope it all works out for you! Good luck!
  14. If any of you would like to know the POI's included in those who sent out interviews for the 25th-26th, PM me. I don't know exactly which of them are planning to take new students for next year, but I know who's part of the clinical group and would be interviewing on those days.
  15. So if I understand this right, the bibliography section of the application is basically the references we used in our proposal. Is this right? It's not including anything more, such as additional relevant references to our topic of research right?
  16. Oh thanks! Yes I just found it! Wow... So it did send like 10+ e-mails to one of my referees....
  17. I understand the note, I'm just confused because I don't have this "Other statuses" section anywhere in the application. Do you see it in yours? But regardless, I asked my referees if they got an invitation for a reference letter from them, and if they didn't receive it (before I got this note I must have entered them at least 10 times... =.=) then I will call the FRQSC.
  18. I will contact them, this makes no sense... I have tried it with many browsers and OS and none worked. Edit: Just sent a message and got this automatic reply. I don't have this section where they say I'm supposed to see my referees saved... I just messaged my referees to ask whether they have received a message to send a reference letter... This is so confusing!
  19. The same thing is happening to me... I just tried the French version and it still doesn't save my referees information...
  20. The way each university looks at your GPA varies though.
  21. Oh ok! I guess your undergrad was at a French university? I'm asking for the GPA because universities like to look at the grades that you got in your pre-required psych classes, since those are more indicative of your performance in the grad program later on. In fact, some even mention that they look exclusively at the psych GPA. So maybe your relevant GPA is actually way higher than 3.7? Regardless, the universities will take into account your psych classes, so maybe that increases your GPA?
  22. Hello! Your research specs do look great! I think this is a big strength in your application for sure. Is your GPA your Health Sciences program GPA, or the one you're getting for your online psych courses? Also, McGill does require the General GRE for their Clinical Program applications :/ Here is the link to the requirements: https://www.mcgill.ca/psychology/graduate/prospective-students/admission-requirements-procedures
  23. Just saw you posted a thread! I can't really help you with your choice or the contrast between I/O and clinical, as I was never interested in I/O, but I can help you with your questions regarding clinical psychology. But if you're hesitating, why not apply to both? I know it can be a lot of work, and much research and writing to do, but if you do not want to waste time, that is the way to go. Once April comes, you will have to make a choice, but maybe by them you will have a better idea of what you're getting into. You might also get a better idea, as it was mentioned, by talking to current grad students in both I/O and clinical, as well as talking to your supervisors about this (or your professors). Don't be shy to ask for their opinions I think your grades are fairly competitive for a clinical program, depending on the school again, but you should not encounter many problems on that front. What I think you do need is solid research experience. Have you been involved in a project, or lead one? (like a honours thesis, or an independent research project class?). Did you get the chance to have a poster presentation, or a paper? I think that research experience can be even more important than GPA in an application to the clinical program, it can really be a deal breaker. Most schools require you to have an honours degree, and if not, to have done an equivalent amount of research experience as an honours student would (usually it means having participated in research as part of a class). Most people applying to clinical have an honours degree, or LOTS of research experience... Since it sounds like you will be having some time off, you should definitely look into ways to get involved with research as a research assistant or coordinator. The second important thing in your application is research fit with a potential supervisor. I think this made all the difference in my application, at least. You should search the schools you're interested in applying to, their faculty, and the kind of research they do. What are you interested in, and do you have any ideas for potential research projects you could undertake with this supervisor? You also need to contact the people you're interested in working with, see if they will be accepting students next year, and ask whether you could meet them to talk about it (via Skype, or in person if that's doable). Believe it or not, this part is extremely important. Finally, don't sweat about the GRE's! They're not so bad if you prepare for them AND they do not count much in terms of how successful your application is. This is the case in Canada, in my experience. I know it can seem like people are stressing out about it a lot on this forum, but that's because most of the threads and posts on this forum are from US students (where the GRE score matters way more in the final decision regarding an application). Your preparation for the general GRE doesn't need to be intense, but it needs to be thorough. Find some prep books. Take your time and study it a little every day. And even if you don't get stellar marks on some aspect of it, it doesn't matter that much! If everything else in your application, including especially the rapport with a potential supervisor, your past research experience, your research interests and their fit to those of your supervisor, are promising and look very good, you're pretty much 80-90% set. Final note on the GRE, many many schools in Canada do not require the special topics GRE (I have not taken it!!!!). I think only a couple of schools in Toronto (UofT and York?) require it... I was so angry at that requirement I just didn't bother applying there! It's a very useless requirement in my opinion, just as the whole GRE thing is, but ESPECIALLY the topics GRE. Make sure you look that up, and if you have no interest in going to those schools in clinical psychology, then don't do the topics GRE. Simple. Even if a school says they "recommend it", from my experience, it makes no difference whether you have it or not... It is mostly useful to the school if you didn't do your undergrad in psych, but that clearly doesn't apply to you. Anyway, hope this helps! I can add much more here and expand, but let me know if you have any questions or comments! This post is already getting way too long
  24. Haha, same! Not a word from them ever since I submitted the application... heh too late for them anyway =P
  25. Since every school evaluates the candidates that have applied to that school separately, and also since every school has a quota of scholarships that is individual to that school, I guess it makes sense that they are not transferable :/ Just because of the process really, which is truly weird I agree
