Not me, but I'll stand right here with you! Based on last couple of years, looks like we might also expect Duke and UChicago (which I am waiting on)? Anyone? I'm with @Bibica, not ready for these rejections... -

No rumors about it, it was very public, very disturbing for current/potential students. I applied knowing I would need to ask lots of questions if accepted. However, if it were the case that folk were scared off, it seems even more odd that 3 of the 4 noted acceptances from NW would be in theory (conflict was primarily between two theorists)...? Obviously not all acceptances get noted here, but it does raise some questions for me... Also check out links shared in another thread on NW controversy... -

Yeah I noticed that...and that's my subfield, and I did see the AP claim in our thread, but it seems like less buzz than in years past... There may be more (nontheory) to come! -
One year a long time ago, there were penguins who didn't wear hats when swimming. This made their mothers livid. "Unacceptable!" Frightened, they screamed, "Bears!" Nobody seemed convinced so instead of going swimming they tried juggling. Their mothers tried everything they thought would teach her a skill. However, she couldn't even make oatmeal without disastrous results. So, the penguins gathered money (obviously) trying to purchase a bear. Towering over them, a grizzly beast danced, devouring all bears with such ferocity that even God enjoyed it. Afterwards, God congratulated the penguins and applauded them. "You did it!" Suddenly, the grizzly beast started dancing vigorously. There was an acromantula nearby. It challenged the preconception that magical mushrooms were magical. Sparkling, the magical mushrooms were spreading throughout

Wow, having a busy day at work, it's nice to see the conversation has been going strong today! I am in the same camp with @krapp and @ugurcanevci on sorrowfully accepting the empty email box, no Northwestern notification... I still think it's weird that there was a rhetorical symmetry in all the statements left on the results page, but I'm not in denial, I'm scratching them off my list (would love to be proved wrong)... Congrats to those claiming acceptances (way to go @correlatesoftheory and @VMcJ!)... and for the OSU acceptances without funding... dang. Well, hopefully that gives you at least an emotional boost to make it through the weekend. Dreading/Excited about next week and all of the chaos. -

Fair enough. I believe it, but it just feels like a very isolating way to use this place. I personally enjoy the camaraderie, but to each their own. -

This is an honest question coming from someone who has not been on this message board for a long time... are there actual people who bother to update the results pages but choose not to participate (even in a really small way) or even mention their status in their field's forum? It just seems odd to me that you would be willing to commit the time for one but not the other... and another piece of evidence of troll-dom... (Also, it seems the Harvard results were removed) -
