  1. Hello! As an MA student in Clinical Psychology, I applied this cycle to 16 schools and interviewed at 9 (both Clinical and Counseling, which was exhausting...)-- I increased my GRE scores using the Kaplan course both in-class and online. For me, I found the online Kaplan courses more beneficial than the in-class portion. I've also used Magoosh in the past with decent success as well. For some of the schools I applied to, I had multiple PI's and addressed them all in my personal statement. I mentioned how they fit into my research interests and plans for future research. Throughout this process, my advisor told me to stay consistent with "my story" of why I wanted to be a clinical or counseling psychologist, why I was doing the research I was doing, and what the next steps were going to be. From the beginning of my MA program, my advisor told all of his advisees that every decision we made (research, practicum, posters, thesis topic) needed to fit into our story to show that the next logical step in our life would be a Ph.D. in clinical/counseling psychology. Good luck!
  2. Waitlisted at Auburn and Ball State's Counseling Ph.D programs. Praying for some miracle that I'll get off the waitlist!!
  3. Waiting to hear back from Central Arkansas and West Virginia---anyone hear anything yet?
  4. Hello! I am graduating from Cleveland State University's MA in Clinical Psychology this May. I have had Research Assistantship all 4 semesters which has led to 7 posters, 4 at national conferences and 3 at regional conferences! It's a pretty competitive program (around 100+ applicants each year) and the faculty members really want to help you establish clinical and research experience to get into Ph.D programs. To put this into perspective, I graduated from a competitive undergraduate university with 3 years of research experience and applied to clinical programs in 2015 with zero interviews. I reapplied to Ph.D programs and I am interviewing at 9 different schools. Some say that if you need to advance your research experience you should find an RA position in a research lab, but my education was funded, I gained a ton of research experience, and some of my courses will transfer into the Ph.D programs I've applied to. Good luck! https://www.csuohio.edu/sciences/psychology/clinical-psychology

  7. Cleveland State has a MA Clinical program that is partially funded (I believe 2-3 semesters out of 4 semesters). They have two tracks, "Practitioner" or "Research", with the research track requiring a thesis and as a preparation for applying to doctoral programs. The practitioner route is more tailored to be for work as a psychology assistant (as you can't be licensed with an MA in Clinical/practice).
