  1. Eastern New Mexico is great and affordable!
  2. Hi! Yes, I got an email that I was waitlisted a few weeks ago, when I log onto my portal it still says "Complete and Ready for Review". Unfortunate
  3. Looking for Grand Valley State!
  4. Hi! I'm an undergad here in the CSD Program and would love to tell you about it and answer any questions! It's a WONDERFUL program and I have millions of reasons why. PM me if you have questions
  5. Wonderful! I'm down to two schools that I'm deciding between. Grand Valley State University and Wichita State. I am extremely attracted to Wichita because of their on-campus clinical opportunities and faculty. I don't know much about the surrounding area though. What are externship placements like?
  6. @slpfall14 @twinguy7 @kendralynnt @jamielee23 @angela4 Thank you all so much! You've been so helpful. I think the only reason I was worried was because my undergrad has an on-campus clinic that I am currently completing my senior practicum in and so that's the only reality I know for the "real-life SLP world". Your posts have all been very encouraging and I think I also see not having an on-campus clinic as a pro more so than a con. It will be so beneficial to be pushed out of the nest to see if you can fly! I appreciate all the support and encouragement and reassurance!
  7. That sound exactly like the school I will be attending! It's right in the heart of Medical Mile, the largest strip of healthcare facilities in Michigan, which they take full advantage of. And it sounds the same in the sense that we have a supervisor from the program and another one that works as our supervisor in the community. I'm starting to think of it as more of a pro than a con since we can get a lot more "real life" experiences out in the community which is what we are going to be doing after school anyways. Thank for the information it really helped!
  8. I hope your Q&A session went well yesterday! Anything interesting you learned about the pros and cons of not having an on-campus clinic? Thanks again!
  9. I'm looking to take Aural Rehab through ENMU this summer. I've never done this before so I am completely lost. Did you have to apply to ENMU in order to take just the one course? How did you sign up/register? Any information helps, thank you!
  10. Thank you so much, I appreciate it!
  11. My top choice school does not have an on-campus clinic and I was wondering if anyone could give me insight on any pros or cons and what to expect with all off-campus clinical work? I have been completing my senior clinical work at our on-campus clinic at my undergraduate institution so that's all I'm really used to. Thanks all and congrats on all the acceptances!
  12. @lee09 I'm wishing you all the good luck in the world! Keep the hope!
  13. Ugh I've been checking everyday too lol. Yeah, ABA is Applied Behavioral Therapy. It's working with kids on the autism spectrum, it's really similar to speech therapy! I worked with ABA therapists last year and loved it. I believe you only need a Bachelors in a related field (Communicative Sciences and Disorders works!) They will just need to give you a little bit of specific training. If I wasn't going to grad school, that's definitely what I would do because I loved it! Let me know if you have any other questions Yeah my mom always told me whenever I stressed "we both know this is what you're meant to do with your life so no matte what it will happen." And if you have a waitlist, you'e already almost there! There are many many people that end up getting off waitlists, I had a friend last year that was sure she wasn't going to grad school and got accepted like 3 days before classes started, so don't give up hope!
  14. @lee09 I'm sorry guys! That makes me so nervous. How many schools did you apply to? I applied to almost all schools I had a pretty good feeling about getting into and a few schools I really liked but knew I had only a slim chance with. The schools I really liked I was unfortunately waitlisted or rejected at, but luckily I do have 4 choices right now. I'll probably decline 2 of them this week because I think I know my too 2. I really love Appalachian state though and I just want to hear SOMETHING. Did you guys get an email? Or just check your portal? And there's lots of people in my program that haven't heard any good news yet, so don't be too discouraged. We had an SLP come in to talk to in at a NSSHLA event yesterday and she got rejected from 4 schools and waitlisted at 1 and got off the waitlist in June, now she's a happily practicing SLP!! So don't be discouraged. If anything, Maybe try getting a job working as an ABA therapist (I believe all you need is your bachelors and then just some extra training) or at a child care center or something! Don't give up hope, if you want to be an SLP, you will be!
