  1. A prof. emailed me back that he gave out offers to 2 stronger candidates but will keep my application as backup in case the other candidates do not accept the offer.
  2. It is March 10th. I applied for a chemical engineering PhD and received 1 rejection 3 probable rejections 3 wait lists and haven't heard back from one. Do my statistics seem low? My GPA is 3.49 for current institution, however my cumulative GPA is 3.72 towards BS in chemical engineering degree. I have 1 publication, 4 conference posters including 2 international. I have another paper and another patent pending. My GRE is V/Q/W (157-158-4.0). I have a load of research experience, over 5 years, both academic and work... I applied to: Berkeley-rejection USC- interview, said to keep the second week of march open and then they said they didn't have funds... JHU-rejection, heard from prof. UMD- waitlisted, will hear within 1-2 weeks. Columbia FU-waitlisted, will hear by April 15. UCLA- waitlisted, will hear early April. CCNY, Grove- haven't heard back. Is my application way off for the schools I applied to? Why do you think I am not getting acceptances? And what are my chances to get in this round? All I want is to study and learn and do research and I am good at it as well... Why am I not in yet? Please share with me if you are on waitlists as well and what you plan to do next if it doesn't work out this round.
  3. Thank you @pureint16 all the best to you too! BTW, I emailed admissions and they said I was waitlisted. Oh well
  4. I was sent an email by one on the potential PI on my application, Dr. Raghavan and when I said I was interested in admission, he replied with an email saying "I am glad to hear of your interest! I am forwarding your information to our graduate program coordinator, Dr Klauda." which was cc'ed on the email. This has been 8 days ago. I am getting worried... Do you mind to share your statistics? And thank you for your response
  5. What does "recommended for admission" mean? were you accepted? by email? by web site? How were you notified? Did you get a fellowship/tuition waiver? Thank you so much!
  6. Anyone accepted to columbia and not going, please reject. I am waitlisted, please!
  7. Thank you @fuzzylogician. I will follow up and keep you posted.
  8. Hi Everyone, I've received an email from a prof. in Columbia saying they were impressed with my credentials but since they cannot over commit, they are putting me on a "(short) waiting list" and I will be notified by April 15. My questions are: 1. Is there anyone else who was or you know of that was put on a waiting list and accepted? 2. What is the typical size of a waiting list? He says in parenthesis that it was short. 3. If I am accepted will I get funding? Is this a question I have to discuss at this phase or wait until after a notification? 4. What do I do now to increase my chances of acceptance? Thank you 0
  9. I've received an email about a week ago from a prof. At UMD college park asking if I would come to University of Maryland, Chemical Engineering, if I was offered full financial aid. I responded immediately saying yes and he forwarded my email to director of admission and cc'ed me. He added a nice comment on the forwarded email. Haven't heard anything since then and it has been 7 days. What do you think is my status? Should I contact the prof? I need some feedback!! Anyone who was in this position? Thank you!
  10. Did you make a decision? I got waitlisted for Columbia MS to PhD
