  1. Has anyone received any scholarship award?
  2. @Gee_ thank you !! U too! Any recommendation between nyu or Hunter for clinical? yes I am in clinical track @NYCMSW
  3. Interview yesterday and accepted today! Now NYU or Hunter GAH!
  4. Had my Hunter interview yesterday. I think it was very relaxed and informal. It was a lot more conversational and even a nice brainstorming/lesson rather than a strict, formal interview. The questions involved: Why Social Work, How would you react if you were placed in an undesirable field placement, what does self awareness mean to you and then 2 scenarios with no right/wrong answer and lastly a writing section which was probably the trickiest part but still straight forward. If anything, it was hard to go from such a conversational tone to reading and analyzing a scholarly article. I am still leaning towards NYU as I really appreciate their clinical edge. And I am enrolled in the working professional program with a decent scholarship so NYU would ultimately be the cheaper option (if I can maintain working FT). Hope this helps anyone still waiting for an interview date. Love to hear opinions on Hunter v. NYU for clinical/psychotherapy. Happy Thursday All
  5. MY STATUS JUST CHANGED TO PENDING INTERVIEWW!!!!
  6. yes, you can contact:'pangulo@hunter.cuny.edu' Mine just says submitted - at least yours is headed in the right direction haha!
  7. Hey guys, I am getting hopeless waiting for a response I have been accepted to all 4/5 schools so far with scholarship and not even a response from Hunter.. Anyone in similar boats?
  8. @DivaSW YAY, cool! I see you also got into Hunter? Why are you considering NYU over Hunter if you don't mind me asking? TX!~
  9. Hey All, Anyone going to NYU?
  10. @12sliders CONGRATS!! Good for you, that's awesome! Can I ask - when did you submit your app?
  11. Has anyone who applied to the 2 year program heard back yet or is it still just advanced standing folks? TY!
  12. @NYCMSW CONGRATS!! Did you apply to the advanced standing program or the regular 2 year?
  13. Hi Navers, So I applied to 3 online programs: Boston University, Fordham & Buffalo. Having already a masters, I am extremely cognizant of cost and that was my reasoning for applying to these 3 programs b/c for me the opposite was true. Because of the fact that they are online, I knew I would be able to continue my job (in finance). At the very last second, I applied to 1 non online program (in addition to 1 other non-online program that is only ~25k so I will not even include it in this scenario), and I am leaning towards that program ironically. I was accepted into all online programs and some with scholarship but something about the thought of 'in -person' and developing those contacts and nurturing relationships with professors, alumni and other students really mattered to me when push came to shove. Not sure if this helped at all, but figured I'd share my experience. Best of luck!
  14. I haven't heard from Hunter yet, should I just consider it a no or are they known for getting back to people late in the game? thanks!!!
  15. I think it's really smart you are all heavily taking the cost into consideration. When I got my first masters degree, I think I just didn't realize I actually had to pay back all the money I took out in loans (clearly I was delusional). Now, I only applied to working professional programs and many of the programs offer a great online component (Boston & Fordham) to at least give you the ability to work as you go.
  16. @olayakHave you heard anything about the 32 month working professional program? I plan on continuing my job in HR to afford the tuition. Good Luck with your DSW!!
  17. Thank you! It's such a hard decision. Wow your background is so impressive. You nailed it with the price though. That's exactly why I knew I needed to do the working professional program at NYU so I can pay for it as I go. Having received a masters where I didn't do that in 2011, I know how difficult it is to pay back ( took me 5 years)! Do you think Hunter has a better clinical program/ more reputable/ prepares students better to be a clinical social worker? THANK YOU!!
  18. Hi everyone, hoping to gain some insight into Hunter vs. NYU's clinical programs. I have a MA in psych and was hoping to ultimately establish myself as a licensed psychotherapist. Which program would be more applicable? Cost to consider: I'm in the 32 month program ( with a FT job where I will pay the tuition in 1 year) at nyu with 25% off tuition and have not heard from hunter yet but obviously won't be able to work with this program. Wahhhhhh, SOS
  19. Can I gather everyone's opinions regarding NYU v. Hunter from a clinical standpoint?
  20. that's awesome - congratulations! Do you mind sharing your stats?
  21. I am going crazy. Have you heard from everyone else?
  22. I've heard back from all other schools except Hunter- anyone hear anything or is it just crickets?
  23. I am going to work at least the first year and hopefully pay most of it off at that point - I'm in the 32 month program- which program r u
