  1. I'd just like to point out that Yale is very generous with financial aid, which is all based on need. I was accepted to Yale, SAIC and SVA and Yale, not only being my number one choice, was also the most sound financial decision.
  2. I think the main thing to take from this is the following: When you're applying to MFA programs you, as the prospective student, are choosing the school as much as that school is choosing you. There are so many programs out there and each program has different faculty teaching at them. In this sense ranking doesn't matter. I urge everyone applying to really research the programs and find the one's that are going to benefit you the most and the one's that you're going to fit into best. You only get one MFA, you might as well make it the best experience you can.
  3. My site's in my profile. I'm looking forward to seeing what I make as well. And yes I'll be at Yale in he fall. Your work is pretty awesome as well. Looking forward to seeing what you do.
  4. I think you can expand everything you said there and have it not be so Yale-centric. Every program is different: different faculty, different students, different location, different procedures (academic requirements as prerequisite, academic requirements during the program, etc). That's why it's so important to do your research beforehand and find the school that's going to give you the experience you want.
  5. Yea, I almost didn't go (to the SAIC interview). I mean I live in LA and I got notice late that I even had an interview at SAIC. If I had been dead set on going to SAIC I definitely would have visited prior to applying.
  6. I visited the one school I was most interested in (Yale) for their open house. I was only truly interested in one school so the decision on which one to visit was easy. I also did interview at SAIC (which was the first time seeing their campus/facilities) and I can tell you that it's vital to visit the school's you're actually contemplating attending. The surrounding town/city that they're in is going to have such a large role for your two years in whatever program you end up in that it'd be stupid to not know what it's like there before going.
  7. I declined my offer of acceptance earlier this week. SVA emailed me to confirm today.
  8. I think it all depends on the program. I know some outline in their application process that you can include different projects in your app which I think would be ideal for you. But I think the best bet is to try and make contact with faculty or students at the places you think you fit best and see what they think. If you can field an in person meeting with someone on the faculty that would be ideal.

    Yale Interview

I'm going to Yale! I'm freaking out. Got notice of acceptance this morning.

    Yale Interview

Maybe it'll be the same for photo? Here's hoping for the best! I just want to know already, this waiting is almost unbearable.

    Yale Interview

I took it right after my interview. I think it was definitely worthwhile, it was nice to talk to my tourguide while we were walking one on one, the actual tour information wasn't anything special but it was nice to walk around the campus. Also, the anchor was awesome.
  12. Funding and admission notice for me came together.

    Yale Interview

That's such a beautiful way to put it and really I think that's the main thing that these interviews help with. For both the people interviewing they get a chance to meet the current students and the faculty and students get to meet the prospective students. Meeting in person always gives the advantage of seeing how personalities work together. I had my interview for photography Tuesday morning (back in LA now, got here around midnight last night). I was far less nervous than I thought I would be. I'm excited about the future! Now all there's to do is wait for that letter.
  14. I heard on Monday by a phone call from Charles Traub. I also received a letter the same day.
  15. Might as well post in this topic as well. Currently accepted to both SAIC and SVA.
  16. I got the email about the scholarship and I was notified of acceptance by letter on Monday (applied for photography).
  17. No mention. Since I'm in New Haven for my interview at Yale I had someone else open the letter for me that I got at home. If I recall correctly there was nothing in the envelope except the letter saying I was admitted (+ info about a $1000 deposit to guarentee my spot, I think).
  18. I heard today by letter and a phone call today. Charles Traub called me earlier today to let me know. I applied to the Photography, Video and Related Media program.
  19. Notification by letter from both SAIC and SVA of acceptance.
  20. Accepted SAIC (with some funding) Accepted SVA (not sure if any funding yet)
  21. I'm bringing my prints in a box. No word yet.
  22. I just received the same email. No official notice yet, though.
  23. 22. Also, really don't think it matters how old you are.
  24. Cranbrook is amazing! Congratulations on your acceptance. I have a friend (painter) who's a first year there and she's loving it. I'd wait, at least, until you hear about what SAIC says before worrying too much about where to go. I think you're in a very good position, though with your acceptance.
