  1. Thanks! I don't usually post on gradcafe so I didn't look around a ton - probably would have been helpful. Really appreciate it.
  2. Hi all ! I interviewed at a program on Feb 9th for UNC Chapel Hill - has anyone heard back post interview and if so, have you heard back from your POI? In general, I was just wondering how long it is appropriate to wait to reach out to a POI to ask if they've made a decision, or even how to broach that discussion. Thanks :')
  3. Hi! I also applied to a research grant in Spain! My project is looking at differences in parenting styles among Spanish, Hispanic/latino (US) families, and American families and the way they impact youth anxiety treatment outcomes. Working with someone in Jaen (hopefully) and comparing the data to be collected during an RCT to be compared to data that's currently being collected in my lab in the US. Cannot take the wait any longer lol I'm getting super restless
  4. right there with ya in the history of my life, i've never gotten an actual email while refreshing like a madman.. it's always when i stop checking it for an hour or two to go to class or do something that i get 30 emails lol
  5. Also did not get an invite yet! I applied to a different PI and it looked like all the posters were definitely just from that one specific PI. So there's hope still
  6. I think it will show up in the IEES portal where we submitted. Our application status should change. I also imagine we would receive an email about it. So anxious/excited about this!
  7. I honestly have no idea :/ I applied to clinical PhD programs, and I know the timelines are sometimes different for different programs. However, it looks like the interview days for social and clinical are the same day (Feb 9th) based on the website.
  8. My online application status hasn't changed, but I received an invite for UNC chapel hill and had done a skype interview back in December with my POI/grad students, and received a formal invite via phone (from POI) and email from the department later. I hope that helps in some way :/ If it's any consolation, I'm still waiting to hear back from the majority of my programs haha
  9. Thanks! I figured it came down to that as well, although I know certain PIs (at least at the institution I am at currently) get consistent funding for a single student from year to year. So like you said, I guess it really comes down to the specific institution, and the specific POI, and how much they want me to work in their group. Really appreciate your feedback though!!
  10. Does anyone know how the process of deferring from Clinical Psychology PhD programs work? If the reason were non-recreational, like receiving a Fulbright Student Research fellowship to go to another country and continue research on a study you designed - would most programs willing to allow students to defer admission a year for something like that? Would you have to go through the entire process again? I would love some insight into how that process works if you are in a similar position, or know someone who has been in that position. Thank you so much!
  11. I have a feeling that all of the invites for Temple have been sent out. The interview dates are usually somewhere between January 12th and 16th.
  12. This makes a lot of sense! I just feel like not sharing initials really adds a lot of unnecessary stress for other people looking at the results page (myself included lol). For any given program there's anywhere from 4-10 different PIs inviting 5-15 students each for interviews, so just stating the program's name doesn't give much information. Also something tells me that most PIs don't check gradcafe regularly? Could be wrong, who knows. I try not to freak myself out about it too much.
  13. that makes sense! it seems that people were just reluctant to share information, and i wasn't sure quite way. although one of the other explanations provided actually makes a lot of sense. thank you!
  14. Can I ask a stupid question? Why do we need to share POIs via PM vs just posting initials here? Is there a specific reason or are people just not comfortable sharing that information.
  15. That sounds good! Waiting to hear about POI on Temple as well... it seems historically from that notification thread that Temple announced interview invites around this week. Getting nervous..
  16. Thanks for the feedback! I hopefully will be presenting that poster I submitted to ABCT this November is San Diego... and I'm working on writing up an IRB protocol with one of the clinicans at the hospital I work at to do some outcomes research on the clinic, so a lot of potential stuff that I hope comes to fruition. I'm also working on writing up a paper with two of the grad students in my lab.
  17. Hi all, I'm in the process of narrowing down a realistic list of schools to apply to clinical programs for Fall 2018. I am open to both PhD and PsyD, but tend toward PhD because I don't know if I have the financial means to pay out of pocket/take a loan for PsyD. I graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Psychology, GPA 3.7 overall; 3.89 in psychology; psych GRE 740 and i am taking the general GRE at the beginning of May. i did some neuroscience research w/ zebra finches for a year but did not produce anything. lots of leadership positions within the honors programs, and worked at Bayer Pharmaceuticals for a year while attending school (originally wanted to go to med school). Here's what I've been up to during my post-bac period (2 years) -care manager in the dept of psychiatry at a major hospital -clinical research asst at a youth a/d clinic; i do diagnostic intake and post assessments (ADIS/CDRS), serve as confederates for exposures, oversee the undergrad RAs, and lots of research; recently submitted my first poster to ABCT -TAed for a semester in quantitative methods in psychology i'm primarily interested in anxiety and depression treatments. training wise i am fine with cbt/dynamically mixed schools, want to just get the most of my experience before going off to externships/internships. What are your questions/impressions on these experiences overall? What would you recommend for me to get into a top program?
