  1. arrghh you are probably right and I shouldn't' stay hopeful only to be disappointed again. I'm going to stay away from GradCafe now. Congrats to everyone who won!
  2. if there was nothing on your letter, it makes sense to assume it's the same this year then. & it probably really sucks to be waitlisted for CGS and not get it, or did you end up getting it? just trying to see if there is still hope LOL
  3. How do you know this is how it works though?
  4. ohh, so you're trying to figure out the same thing hahaha it definitely doesn't hurt to be hopeful ?
  5. So if it doesn't explicitly say that you are in the "meritorious alternate applicants" list, then you are not in the waitlist, right? or there is no way to know?
  6. Does it say in your letter that you are put on a waitlist? How did you know?
  7. Congratulations to both of you. This is super exciting! you must feel so amazing!!!
  8. no I got FRQSC last year
  9. it was called "Competition Results -Doctoral Awards (my application number)
  10. on mine, it also says the results were posted 6 days ago!!
  11. No, I got FRQSC in the last year's competition. I got my results on April 30th 11.59pm or something like that. I remember, I was so anxious to find out and I was waiting up. Best of luck for you with FRQSC! With SSHRC, I got such a low rating this year too even though I worked more on my application and felt so much better about it. It just shows how subjective these things are and very dependent on who reads your application.
  12. I just got mine too and it was a rejection lol ? good luck to those of you who are waiting! I'm glad to have FRQSC so I won't be applying again...
  13. You are right that stressing about it won't really help anything and that we don't have any control over the whole process but I honestly I can't help it I will try to to do other things to keep my mind off of this but it's going to be so HARD.
  14. I don't understand the logic in this. Why would SSHRC notify graduate studies or departments beforehand (April 30th) but now allow them to tell us? Ughhh. Does anyone have any theories about this? Could it be that, they let them know, in case for administrative reasons, we can't get our results on time and THEN they can tell us?? This week is going to be literally the longest week of my entire life!!! How do you all pass the time, I can't focus on any actual work, even-though there is a ton to do of course!!
  15. Pfewww. That makes sense. Of course there are multiple SSHRC awards that people are hearing about. At this stage my brain has frozen and can't make logical observations LOL. I just NEED April to be over already LMAO in tears & misery.
  16. What do you mean "hear back"? like an update on their application? or are you referring to the "heart attack" emails we've got and will be getting on instructions about how to check for the results. if some people are hearing already and the rest of us have to wait, that seems super unfair... but I highly doubt this is happening!?
  17. 1 week and 4 days left !!! arghhhh ?
  18. You did! haha good luck. Hopefully you win the SSHRC lottery
  19. That's good to know & I'm in McGill so I will find out through my department even if SSHRC is late with results. Thanks.
  20. This is very helpful information, in case the same thing happens. I hope it doesn't though. It's my 1st time applying, so I have no idea what to expect. If I don't hear from SSHRC and don't get the extranet email or the letter, should I just contact my department to find out about the my results? Also would they have the results for everyone or just the ones that were successful, do you know?
  21. not good. i wish time would go faster ?
  22. Mine was green too. I don't think it means anything. or could it? lol we are reading into this way too much hahaha overanalyzing everything. This is so totally normal tho :P let's REALLY hope that doesn't happen. I read in previous year's forum that people had to wait well into May to find out about their results and I think that's just CRUEL. We're already waiting for MONTHS! We shouldn't have to wait any longer. Let's all be positive and hope we will ALL hear about our results by April 30, by 11:59 or latest May 1st. Fingers crossed for good news. OMG, I do this too! Your sister is probably right. It's not like we could do anything about it at this point. Sometimes I feel good about it after I read it but often I find things that could be better in it, I guess it depends on my mood. But honestly there is so many ways that the proposal could be different/better/whatever and at the end of the day, I feel like there is an element of luck involved in that it heavily depends on firstly who are the people who read your proposal and how they feel about it and secondly how you compare to the rest of the applicants in that subject. So we can never know until the results are out. I know of people who've won CGS & Vanier (which is the most competitive of them all) but were rejected from FRQSC (which is a Quebec based scholarship) and is supposed to be much less competitive than CGS and Vanier since those are federal AND applicants have to go through multiple rounds before they will be considered. There really isn't a logic.... Ugh...I just want this month to be over already. I want to wake up and the date to be April 30th. Fairy god mother, can you hear me?
  23. LOL at the "mini heart attack" ? which I had too btw. 3 weeks and 2 days left you all ! how are you feeling??? the wait is killing me..
  24. I honestly don't know how it works if you're a direct application to SSHRC. I've always applied through the institutions since I'm at a Canadian University and they have two rounds (one department, one university) before getting forwarded to SSHRC. When mine got forwarded I got a letter from the graduate studies studies saying my application got forwarded but I haven't gotten anything from SSHRC ever since I applied, other than the generic "we've received your application" email which is the same one as yours....
