  1. Ridiculous that we still haven't heard from Chapel Hill. Apparently, they still haven't sent out a single rejection.
  2. I plan on declining my offer at WMU sometime this week. I was offered a tuition waiver and an assistantship, so perhaps this will help someone else who wants to go there!
  3. I'm wondering the same thing...
  4. I have a legit waitlist from Fordham! If I get accepted off the waitlist, I can't make a choice about Fordham until NIU gets back to me about funding or I get some life-changing news from Chapel Hill. Right now, I'm really unsure about what I want to do, and so I'm trying to keep my options open.
  5. I don't think Chapel Hill has sent out any waitlists yet even though LA Paul said they've constructed it. So maybe there's still hope for us @eigenname! Chapel Hill is my last shot at a PhD this cycle and a wonderful fit...so I really hope I get lucky...
  6. I'm 99% sure I'm shut out from PhD admissions this time around, and I'm starting to question if I even love philosophy enough to go to an MA, especially if it ends up only being partially funded. I've been really disappointed and upset about the whole thing, and while I objectively know that this is a really competitive field, I'm not sure I have what it takes to succeed in this. I go back and forth every day about what I want to do next year.
  7. Solicited NYU to get a rejection. Expected.
  8. If it helps, I got an assistantship and will be turning it down if NIU comes through with funding.
  9. If you hear anything from LA Paul, let me know! Chapel Hill is my last hope PhD wise.
  10. I solicited Rutgers and got a rejection today morning.
  11. Just got back from Rutgers and impulsively decided to send them an email soliciting my decision. I'm done waiting for this, I want to know for sure that I've been shut out of PhD's this season.
  12. I also assume that since a lot of the same people who got into other top programs got into Rutgers, not all of them will end up going to Rutgers. Which means they may still have at least some wait-list decisions left. (Or so I tell myself, in the slight hope that some miracle happens)
  13. She was ambiguous and just said 'decisions.' Probably should have clarified, but didn't. (I spoke to the graduate admissions coordinator, was too nervous to call the DGS)
  14. I called their department yesterday and they said decisions should be out by the end of this week, but who knows if that's actually going to happen.
  15. Also accepted at Western Michigan with full funding/an assistantship! NIU is still my top choice though...so I'll probably decline. Although NIU has yet to get back to me on funding. I think I'd probably still pick NIU over Brandeis, but I'm not sure. The location of Brandeis is tempting, though I know NIU is the best fit for me/has unbeatable placement recently.
  16. I just called Rutgers and they said they should have final decisions going out by the end of this week. Excited to get my official rejection! (NOT)
  17. I will definitely be going to NIU barring any funding issues: they're reviewing my tuition waiver + I'm waiting to hear back about an assistantship, since I've been told I'm 'relatively high' on the waitlist for one. They have an excellent placement record, and I hope I can re-apply to Rutgers then! You seem to have a lot of awesome waitlists+an acceptance at Texas A&M--do you not have faith in those, or would you just prefer NIU?
  18. If Rutgers intends to reject everyone who didn't get an acceptance or waitlist already, why drag it out?
  19. I really want to solicit Rutgers on Monday so I can move on with my life. Rutgers has been my dream school since before app season even started and I want to stop hoping that I still have a tiny chance.
  20. I saw one person report a waitlist at UCSD on the FB group!
  21. Wonder if there's a reason schools are taking longer than usual this year. I've been so impatient to hear back from Chapel Hill, they usually release much earlier, but haven't sent out anything yet...
  22. Official rejections from Princeton seem to be out, just got mine!
  23. Western Michigan is great! But NIU has had a stellar placement record both in terms of this cycle (I've see lots of NIU grads getting into the top schools) and in past cycles, which is why I'm really hoping I can end up going there! Plus, Alicia Finch teaches there, and I do work on free will, which is a perfect fit. In an ideal world, I would go to Rutgers since I already hang out at their department weekly + know many of the grad students there! Notre Dame would have also been a great fit for me given the abundance of faculty in my areas of interest. Holding out a tiny bit of hope for Chapel Hill because they're also one of my top choices...but I know it's impossible...
  24. I hope we both get the assistantship! Right now, barring some miracle happening, looks like I'm headed to NIU! Would you take Western Michigan over NIU?
  25. I got into NIU this cycle with a 158V, 151Q, so don't worry too much as long as your writing sample and letters are strong.
