  1. @limbsun My first choice was actually NPSIA ! However, I took the TOEFL and got 28, 29, 30 and 23 (in the damn reading part)... NPSIA is asking to have at least 25 in every section of the test, so I cannot apply. I also don't have the econ requirement. I wouldn't have mind doing it in the summer, but I am doing an internship in the Philippines and probably wouldn't be able to do both (since I hate numbers so bad). I was mad for a few days, I'm fine now. So I am only applying to GSPIA and SIDGS. I know applying to 2 is a bad idea, but I think it's not worth spending money elsewhere if I don't really want to go there ? I would have applied to Munk if it wasn't for the tuition. UOttawa is already super expensive for me (we pay less than 3000$/year in Quebec). @Delidas Oh wow ! Where did you apply ? Maybe they tell international before to leave time to do all the paper work ? @canuck103 I just turned 22. My friend is also graduating at 20 and she is stressed about it. I really don't think it's an issue !
  2. @limbsun Hello ! I will apply to GSPIA, I just need to finish my letter of intent. I feel like international students know sooner if they got in or not. My friend applied to SIDGS and got in last week as well. I think for us it will be more like mid-february or beginning of march, though on last year's tread people knew a bit later than that for GSPIA. Is GSPIA your first choice ?
  3. I have written anything yet (I tried), I think I put too much pressure on myself ... Also, still not too sure what to say in it. Crazy to think that soon we'll know.
  4. @Sagnik_G yeah, you make a good point for the whole translation thing. As for the ''getting my degree later'', I had the same issue when I started university. They left me until the end of october to get it, but I am not sure it will be the same for a master... I am really nervous. I don't want to turn down my internship (I've been wanting it for 2 years)... At the same time, I don't know what I would do for a year if I have to wait. I hope I'll have an answer soon.
  5. @sunshine18 It really seems to me like you have a strong application ! I would say that you have a shot at being accepted, yes. If you can have strong letters from your referees and a good letter of intent, I wouldn't be too worried. On my side, I am having some 'issues'. I got an internship this summer to make a documentary in the Philippines. It is part of my degree, which means I would only really graduate at the end of september (I have to hand in a report). I am not sure I can start a master without having my bachelor... Even though I will get it, just later. Also, since I've always been to french schools, I think I have to translate my grades. What do you guys think ? I wrote to Tabattha 2 weeks ago. She is probably overwhelmed by emails, I got no answer.
  6. @Sagnik_G Welcome here ! I would say that you have a pretty strong profile ! I think having a publication in a journal is really something that will make you stand out. I don't really know how it works for the international students, though. Otherwise, I asked my professor if he could give me the contact of one NPSIA student and he did. She told me they are 130 in it, but they are only 15 in her field (economy). Also, she didn't really like the program at first but that it's fine now. She got in with a TAship + scholarship and her friend got in with 3.5GPA without anything.
  7. @Delidas I think that's why I'm reluctant to do it so soon ? It's kinda scary to just let it go and wait... I'm sure I'm gonna send it near the deadline (not sure if it's a good idea, though) Someone knows how many places there are for NPSIA ?
  8. I think all the fields have great career prospects, but part of me think that perhaps 'conflict analysis' and 'security and defence' might be better afterwards? As I said, I’m more interested by development but IOGP looks really nice as well! @xioaping If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing in China (studying, working, traveling) ? I also agree with you, I would love to be in GAC, as most of the students in NPSIA I guess. I don't know if it takes long to find a job after graduation...
  9. Hey there ! I am considering applying to NPSIA for next year but I have to admit that I am quite nervous about it. I looked at last year's topic and I feel like I am pretty ordinary compared to the applicants. I am from Montréal, so my first language is french (I also speak spanish and japanese, if that's relevant) and my english is alright but far from amazing. I am currently doing an exchange in Sweden but that is basically the only international experience that I have. Other than that, my GPA is good. I kinda failed my first semester because of some personal problems but I improved every semester after that. I don't have any implications or relevant job experiences... I would really be interested in the development field, since my bachelor's specialisation is international cooperation and development. I think my chances of getting in are very low, actually. I also looked at GPSIA and the development program at UOttawa, I would be happy to get into those as well. I am gonna apply at the equivalent of GPSIA/NPSIA at the University of Montreal just to have a cushion since my professor told me I would get in. It's still my last choice. I never did anything like a statement of intent, I am also nervous about that... Do you have any tips ? I agree that an online support group would be nice haha. I didn't imagine that applying to a master would be that stressful !
