  1. Also got a call from Western! Out of province students, there is hope!
  2. As excruciating as the pain is, it is still early in the game. It's March, and most decisions go until June. It's good to find healthy ways to process the information but we shouldn't let go just yet. I went for a walk after reading this thread Called a loved on and expressed my frustration, they listened and sometimes just hearing the "it's okay" is good enough to get through the day. After work I'll go for a run or exercise to make sure I don't fall into any self criticizing thoughts and it'll be okay. Most of the PI's I've worked with often share the story of how they applied to multiple schools and got rejected at most, waitlisted at a few but there was always one that accepted them, which is why they are where they are. Though I am skeptical of my admission this year, it's okay. That feeling is fair, but there is also room for hope
  3. I'm starting to feel a little more dejected about receiving an acceptance this year
  4. They didn't say. they said they've sent out first round of acceptances. We will most likely hear back next week about their decision.
  5. Thank you for filling us in! It's nice to have a date in mind. On another note, Queens will most likely be sending out their next round of acceptances/refusals this week. They responded to my email saying that they will be reviewing applications this week.
  6. Applying to grad schools has made me appreciate weekends so much more. Weekends are such a reprieve from emails and grad school worries. Here is to another week of waiting
  7. I love this positivity! I agree. No news is good news. Many of us haven't heard from our choices for grad schools - it's nerve-wracking and anxiety inducing but you're still in the game! Many of us are in this together, and as singular we may feel, it is a collective experience
  8. I figured that it was because I was waitlisted, otherwise I would have received a refusal. I'll email them and ask
  9. Me too! Mine is stuck at "Application Complete" and the status hasn't changed since they sent out acceptances.
  10. Is anyone still waiting to hear back from Queens?
  11. I'm so sorry to hear that I bet you're a great candidate! It's so weird when you realize how competitive admissions to an MPH is these days. The fact that you applied and gave it your best shot counts! And it is a real bummer to get a rejection. I hope you do something today to make the day a bit better <3
  12. To everyone who has been admitted to U of T, congrats! I was wondering, are you all Ontario/Quebec residents? I'm wondering if grad schools generally allocate seats differently depending on geographical location of the applicant.
  13. Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I'm so nervous, this is the program I'm rooting for and I haven't received anything as of yet. Super nervous.
  14. Is anyone else seeing "Application Complete" on the Queen's eservices page? My status hasn't changed and acceptances/refusals have been sent out for over a week now.
  15. Yeah! They sent me the questions they pose for decision making criteria and the first item on the list was quantitative skills. It's very important to their program, and my rejection makes sense since I don't have strong grades in Calculus (we're talking Cs) and I applied just to see if there was a chance. With the program being quantitatively heavy I'm not surprised with my rejection. Their program is relatively small but they also look for high academic achievement and a really strong personal statement that highlights the importance of public health.
  16. I'm sorry to hear this too You do have such a strong profile! I would email and ask about what the decision criteria was. I did the same for my rejection from McGill and they did give a good answer.
  17. Yes! I think there's some great research happening out there. I don't know if I'll get in considering I'm an out of province student and how competitive the program is.
  18. Yes! You're right! Sorry, I totally forgot that there are two programs
  19. I am in the same situation as well. I haven't heard from them yet and I don't see any offers made on the Queen's acceptance page either so I'm just waiting to see what happens. I've also been in touch with Western. They said they will not be sending out first round offers until Mid-April.
  20. They have sent out acceptances. What they said to me is that applicants who were in touch with supervisors and other first round offers have been given out. They are waiting to hear back to send out a second round. It's safe to assume that we've been waitlisted or will soon receive a rejection.
  21. They said that if they haven't contacted you yet it's because you're most likely on a waitlist. I was told that I was placed on a waitlist and they let me know that they intend on sending out their second round offers soon.
  22. I called Waterloo today. They've been sending out acceptances also!
  23. Is this program very quantitative heavy?
  24. I can't speak for Montreal but I can speak for Vancouver. My coworker graduated from the UBC MPH program. As a fellow UBC student, I've been told that the program is a little underfunded. In comparison to eastern schools, it is a consensus among UBC graduate students that the university doesn't prioritize it's graduate students and it is relatively difficult to receive funding. I was going to apply at UBC but my professor argued against academic suicide by pursuing your masters at the same school and also mentioned that funding may be a problem. The epidemiology program is a little less quantitative in comparison to McGill, but we do have some stellar researchers on board. I've spoken to the admissions head and she spoke highly of the quality of education. I would also take into consideration the cost of living. UBC is a BEAUTIFUL campus. I may be biased because I studied and currently work there, but we have the mountains, the ocean and the city all within reach. It is, sadly, an expensive place to live. $1000 might warrant a sub-par basement a few kilometers off of campus. Transit can be pain to use especially in the winter months because Vancouver doesn't know how to handle snow, and nightlife here attracts an older crowd. If you have any questions pm me or I can answer them on this forum!
