  1. Did anyone go to the Open House and glean any useful information that those of us who were unable to go may want/need to know? Thanks in advance!
  2. I just received my financial aid package online- check your email!
  3. Is anyone attending the housing virtual session this evening? I was hoping to, but I have an appointment that is going to interfere. If so, would it be possible to either post or DM any pertinent information? Thanks!
  4. @smashtron thanks, that’s really helpful! I’m with you- very much hoping these couple weeks go quick so that we can hear about aid/scholarships! I got my call this afternoon, but was doing my parent/teacher conferences and missed it!
  5. @smashtron I saw earlier in the thread where you mentioned that you were notified of your merit scholarship on 3/20 last year. Did they notify you via email? And was that prior to you receiving the financial aid information? Thanks in advance!
  6. Memphis migration this fall! Congrats!!

  8. Accepted to SSP! Congrats to everyone!
  9. Email, application status, grad cafe, refresh refresh refresh.... omg!!!
  10. How’s everyone dealing with the anxiety? It was easier to be patient when the wait was months/weeks and now that it’s just days I’m having trouble thinking of much else! Also, does anyone know if the phone calls scheduled for 3/2 are just for EPM? As in, the welcoming phone calls for the other cohorts will be made at another time?
  11. @memphismocha very cool! I came here from Chicago about three years ago to help start a new school. Fingers crossed we both get to reminisce about Memphis while in Cambridge next year!
  12. Also curious about when they let people know if they get either of the merit scholarships, hopefully someone has some info. Are you in Memphis? Me too! Hopefully HGSE takes a shine to our city and we both get in
  13. Thanks for the heads up- this wait is borderline excruciating!
  14. Hi everyone! Program/Concentration: Specialized Studies Program (SSP)GRE Score: TBAGPA: 4.0 Summa Cum LaudeWork Experience: a combined 6 years of urban early childhood teaching; was a founding teacher at two public Montessori start-ups (Chicago/Memphis); experience as team leader, mentor, coach, PLC director, school-wide professional development coordinator; on-site coordinator and instructor for the pilot of a first of its kind Public Montessori Teacher Institute and Residency launched in collaboration with a national public Montessori organization; frequent presenter at national Montessori conferences, contributor for an online Public Montessori periodical; currently participating in a consortium of school leaders around the country to raise funding in order to replicate the pilot of the training program on a national scale Undergrad/Grad Institution (Public, Private, Ivy, etc..): B.A. in Early Childhood Education from a small public university, American Montessori Early Childhood teaching credential, IL and TN state teaching license in Early Childhood Education with an Approval in Special Education Research Experience: no personal research experience, however worked as a writing consultant at my university's Writing Center offering tutoring support for undergraduate and graduate students LoR/SoP: 2 LORs from HGSE Alum (one Masters, one Doctoral; a neuroscience teaching fellow for Harvard's Extension School, and the Head Researcher for the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector), 1 LOR from my Leadership Coach who is also a Montessori consultant and instructor; I feel good about my SOP and had a lot of people read it and provide feedback before I submitted What Other Schools Are You Applying To: none I'm excited to hear about your experiences as well as get some feedback on mine. I threw my hat in the ring at the very last minute for this program so this is my Hail Mary attempt- which also means that I don't have a GRE testing date until January 10th. It is published on the website as well as was communicated with me via email from the both the SSP Faculty Director and the Associate Director of Admissions that there is some flexibility for testing dates scheduled before January 15th. Therefore, I'm not sure if my application will even be considered for the program (but I'm hoping my work experience, SOP, GPA, and LORs are strong enough to be considered). Has anyone on this thread either had experience with an extended deadline or know anyone who has? Thanks and I look forward to hearing any feedback the group has to offer!
