I got an email from SFU yesterday and I was accepted to the MPH program in population health! I was on the waitlist and I definitely didn't think I would get off it so I'm super surprised and excited. They even offered me an entrance scholarship!

Yeah, I'm wondering that as well. I wasn't sent an email from SFU about my waitlist status, I just saw it in the portal. I was browsing this thread from last year, and someone said that SFU emailed them with their rank on the waitlist. Since someone in this thread mentioned that SFU had told them that they were aiming to update everyone about their status by the end of this week, I'm hoping that they will notify people of their rank on the waitlist as well. If not, I'm planning on following up next week.

I just checked my portal for SFU and my application status had the following message: "Your application has been placed on a waiting list by the Department." Ugh, I guess it's better than being rejected outright, but it means more waiting!

I still haven’t heard from SFU for population health... someone earlier in the thread said that they said that everyone would be notified of their status by the end of March, but I guess that’s not the case. Annoying!

I just got rejected from UBC... I'm really bummed, I thought I was an alright candidate.

Does SFU require a response to their admission offer by next Tuesday? Maybe after that they'll do another round of admissions...

I'm only applying to two programs - UBC and SFU MPH, since I don't really want to relocate (I love Vancouver). I figure if I don't get in, then next year I'll widen my search. I'm nervous though! I've never applied to grad school before. I just finished submitting both of my applications. I'm hopeful - I have an A+ in both my stats courses, an honours degree (with a thesis component), and a few years of research work experience in the healthcare field. My GPA makes me nervous, cumulative it's a little over a B+, but for third and fourth year courses it's an A-. My school had a GPA out of 9, which was annoying and confusing to convert. Anyway, I'm not sure what they value most highly. But I'll be following this thread! Best of luck to everyone!
