  1. Getting an industry job as a data scientist wouldn't be too difficult given your background honestly. The skillset required is not by any means "rigorous". If your looking into graduate school, look into applying into MS Stats programs that have a heavy machine learning focus. MS programs generally don't have any hard pre-requesites. I did a double major in Math & Physics with 0 ML/Stats/CS classes, and it didn't affect my application much. Just be able to clearly demonstrate a purpose and interest in the field when you apply.
  2. YOO don't lose hope!! I was in a similar situation with around a 3.2x my junior year, turned it around by the time I graduated and was able to get into multiple top tier programs, including a top 3. It wasn't an easy road, but definitely worth it and very fulfilling. Luckily you haven't taken many math classes, you can still turn it around.PM me
  3. First of all congrats!! Those are definitely two amazing schools. I have to agree with @bayessays here, Columbia's program does not come close to Chicago's. The only program that at the master's level that would be better is probably Stanford's imo. Berkeley has a stronger PhD stats program , but their MA is arguably at a similar level to Chicago's. I'm also a huge fan of Duke's program. But in general, if you do an masters, you definitely want to have a thesis option.
  4. Don't worry too much about your grades in analysis, it would be a big redflag for a PHD program; however, many masters applicants have little to none proof based math experience. Your school selection is good, although IDK if you wanna apply to UW, Columbia (Cash Cows & Not Rigorous). Also does UPenn even offer a masters in stats? I got into a few of the schools you listed for a masters in stats. My background was at a similar top 5 public, 3.5 overall in double major physics/math, and around 3.8 math GPA with two graduate math courses. Your GRE scores are really, really, good also. Really focus on your SOP, and I think you'll get into at least 1 of the schools you mentioned! Also, the subject GRE is something you could take, but in all honesty you probably will not need.
  5. I really felt like Yale's statistics department looked a bit lackluster and small in the machine learning department. But I guess the Yale name is worth a lot! It mainly depends on what kind of universities your applying too. If you could list those, then we could compare the pros/cons.
  6. I mean mathematics gre gives you a wide range of applicants! Definitely the go to place to Math
