chickadeeslp reacted to Rowboat47 in Question about CCC's (certificate of clinical competence)
It is my understanding that in order to receive their CCC's, one must complete a master's program in SLP, complete their CF (Clinical Fellowship) within 2 years of earning their degree, ensuring that they have earned a total of 400 clinical clock hours under the supervision of a licensed SLP, and earn a passing score on the Praxis exam. The process of applying for state certification varies by state.
There is a lot of detailed information about certification on the ASHA website: https://www.asha.org/Certification/2014-Speech-Language-Pathology-Certification-Standards/
Hope this helps!

chickadeeslp reacted to SopranoSLP in School Facebook Groups 2018
It's definitely on the early side, but I figured I might as well start the 2018 version of this thread! (I was just procrastinating studying for finals searching for a Facebook group for my chosen program, and I found last year's version of this post.) Definitely more efficient than scanning the Results page, etc.
If you create a group, please post a link here! When others commit to a school, they can find the groups here. Congrats to everyone, and best of luck to all those still waiting and/or deciding!

I have never had that issue, but within the last ten minutes, I have been getting a "404 Error" Page Not Found. Is anyone else getting this?

chickadeeslp got a reaction from Rowboat47 in UConn?
Thanks! Still no word on my portal, but hopefully they're still coming! I'm applying for the three-year track so that might affect things too
Either way, congrats! (I'm guessing based on the smiley face)

That is really strange! I would definitely wait for snail mail and see what it says and then contact the department. I've never heard of a school doing that...good luck!

chickadeeslp reacted to Rowboat47 in UConn?
I just checked the UConn Hobson portal and there was a decision available! I haven't received an email yet but I happened to be checking the portal.

Looking at last year's results, they first started notifying students immediately before spring break and continued during the week of spring break. So if they're going by the same general timeline this year, we MIGHT hear something by the end of this coming week or during spring break (3/12-3/16). Fingers crossed we hear back soon

Bumping this post for Fall 2018 applicants.
I was accepted to Sacred Heart yesterday (yay!) but am still waiting on results from UConn and Southern Connecticut State, hopefully within the next several weeks. In the meantime, there is a deposit for Sacred Heart that I am willing to pay to save my spot, but the wording of the acceptance email made it sound like paying the deposit equals a formal commitment to attending the program (as opposed to a way to save your place while waiting for other admissions results). I'm hoping others can shed some light on this... I'm incredibly excited to have been accepted, but I want to make sure I have all of the information I can before making a final decision about which school I'll attend.

I think I'm actually going to go crazy waiting for decisions!! Now that we're halfway through February, I keep updating my emails and checking my application portals like every hour Has anyone found a better way to deal with decision anxiety because I don't think I'm going to make it!!
