  1. I sent in my deposit to Southern CT for the Fall! I can't wait to start
  2. @Rowboat47 Thanks!! I don't know what I'll do with my time now that I'm done waiting to hear haha
  3. I was wondering the same thing...I emailed to ask, but I haven't heard back....I'll post if I hear anything
  4. Thank you! Uconn's the only school that specifically asked which program I was planning on so hopefully that's the case. If not, I'm already in somewhere so I'll be okay
  5. Thanks! Still no word on my portal, but hopefully they're still coming! I'm applying for the three-year track so that might affect things too Either way, congrats! (I'm guessing based on the smiley face)
  6. That is really strange! I would definitely wait for snail mail and see what it says and then contact the department. I've never heard of a school doing that...good luck!
  7. Were you able to view the decision or did it just say one had been made?
  8. Do you feel comfortable sharing the part of the phrasing that's making you concerned? I can't imagine it would mean a commitment because I can't think of what they could really do if you changed your mind, but who knows Also congrats on Sacred Heart!!
  9. I've been accepted to the University of Rhode Island and am waiting to hear from two more schools
  10. I only went to one open house and it seemed 50/50 if people had parents with them or not. I would imagine it's probably more important who's leading than anything. If you have a parent with you, but you're the one leading the discussion and asking questions, it probably doesn't make a huge difference. Plus if having your mom or someone else with you is important to you and a school doesn't like that enough to affect your acceptance, it probably wasn't going to be a great fit anyway. I'd say do what makes you comfortable...this process is stressful enough already It probably varies by school and program, but I'd guess they're generally less formal than what you're thinking. The one I went to was basically a giant room set up science fair style with each table having a different program within the entire graduate school. They had pamphlets you could take and a faculty member or grad student from the program at each table. At the speech table, the faculty member wasn't on this year's admissions committee, although she had been other years. There were campus tours available, but that was pretty much it. I'm sure other people have had different experiences, but I hope this helps clarify things a bit.
  11. Which programs are you applying to? Uconn, Southern CT, URI (I'm nervous about applying to so few, but I'm limited geographically and being out of major) Where are you from? CT What are your biggest concerns about applications? My undergrad is in a super unrelated field. I have a year and a half experience working as a full-time para (I subbed during college breaks too), pretty competitive GRE and GPA (V:162, Q: 156, AW: 5, GPA: 3.76) and research experience (in an unrelated area), but I'm worried it won't be enough to convince schools that I really am committed to this field and can handle the courses. Unfortunately, most of them didn't want personal statements where I could've pled my case. If I don't get in I plan to do the prereqs myself next year, but for my own sanity, I rather have a program with an advisor to help me get it all done (especially because I'm nervous I'll do the prereqs and they won't be accepted by wherever I eventually get in). Fingers crossed!!
  12. I applied too and the wait is driving me crazy...hopefully the next few weeks go quickly but I doubt it
