POC does NOT mean just black, rather people of color - again, not just black people. Also, requesting to speak to a POC from a school allows for real conversations around diversity to be had. Higher education is one of the most racially discriminated institutions in the US, which leads to a lot of issues for students that are POC. Issues non-POC counterparts tend to not notice/mention because it's not part of their lived experience.

I filled out the check back in form and was allotted money from no aid to a considerable amount of aid a while back. In my check back form I acknowledged several Wagner fellowships that I felt I qualified for and requested at least matching aid from other comparable schools.

Why don't you all just request an admissions decision extension from the programs that yor considering listing finances - mainly external funding and internal aid consideration? It's rather easy, just ask.

Sorry for the late response! But happy to answer any questions about the Open House! @LibbyCreek I did attend the Open House and really enjoyed it. The small class size was ideal to get to know people on a personal level and the interdisciplinary nature of the program allows students to craft a program that aligns with specific interest issues. I also appreciated how accessible the professors are and how willing they are to provide assistance. The alumni panel provided me with snapshots to what life at CIPA could look like that included all of the abroad/immersion opportunities, policy challenges and opportunities to connect around research. What I got from the program is that because the program is so small and can be embedded into the various other professional school programs there's an opportunity to be a big fish in a small pond that typically doesn't happen in larger programs. What I mean by that is at larger schools like Columbia you'll be competing with 400+ students for opportunities in comparison to competing with 75 students - there are more opportunities to do/have access to opportunities. I will also point out the opportunities to spend semesters in DC, NYC, Rome and other places that have been helpful for students to get year round internship and networking experiences that major cities have. What really impressed me was how accessible Tom, the Executive Director, is in answering questions and connecting me alum. I would suggest looking at LinkedIn for alum in your interest area and/or reach out to him to provide a better snapshot of post-CIPA statistics. At the end of the day for me it's about transitioning into a career that I want to and not taking on a lot of debt to do so. I think you'll have to decide what is most important to you.

My background is in philanthropy and looking to stay within the field but move slightly to CSR/Private Sector. My focus is Domestic Policy and wondering which program makes the most sense for my goals. Funding details: received financial aid from all three programs but the most from CIPA. *Pros and Cons welcomed!

@LibbyCreekand @Uzair2I would call/email them - the Open House is next week, so if either of you are interested in attending a decision would be helpful! The office is super transparent so I'm sure they will be helpful.

@misuny I reached out to financial aid and based on my appeal letter they sent me the check back form. The only problem with the check back form for NYU is that if they provide you with aid you have up to 3 days to accept or define the offer. I'm waiting on a few more decisions so I have to wait to fill out the form.

@AddSmithI have the same issue! What was explained is that they needed the official transcript to release the decision, not to make a decision. So, we should be good!

For those of ya'll that received your letters when was your application deemed "complete"?

@BoscoNot a ton of funding ($18k per year) but that was expected as CIPA is said to be a more affordable degree and Ithaca isn't as expensive as other cities. Trying to wait to hear back from my other schools to negotiate funding.

Submitted my application on Jan. 15th, submitted my video response on Jan. 22nd making my application complete. @2018Hopeful
