  1. Thanks for the info from my part as well! I find it strange that it's taking them this long to release the results for international students. Honestly, I'm starting to speculate that they're still unsure whether they can admit any international applicants due to COVID, which delays their process. I hope that's not the case, though.
  2. Yeah, the acceptance-rejection ratio for international students is simply nuts... I will definitely post here when my application status changes, and I'll be grateful if you do the same. Best of luck to you as well! By the way, I noticed that you have one admission already, so congrats!
  3. That's awesome, congrats! Do you think you'll accept the offer? I'm wondering if they are sending offers to international applicants now as well or if they're doing that later. On the other hand, they admit only a few international students per cycle, so it might very well be that I just wasn't picked this time. I guess I just have to wait and see.
  4. By the way, I noticed that two people had posted their acceptances to York's PolSci (master's), so we might hear something about the PhD applications next week -- maybe?
  5. Yeah, I guess it's most of us ? If you don't mind me asking, what are you writing about?
  6. Thanks for the reply! ☺️ My status also changed earlier this week, which was nice. Is anyone else getting tired of waiting? I'm supposed to co-write an article at the moment but I'm having trouble trying to concentrate. I just want this waiting part to be over.
  7. Sorry, I posted false info and had to delete it! I hope so too. Good luck to you as well! ?
  8. Thank you for replying! Well, now I'm a little worried ? My application status has not changed, so I'm starting to wonder if the admissions office forgot to forward my application file to the department... I think I'll email the admissions office to be sure. (Something like this happens to me almost every time.) Congrats, that is great news! ?
  9. Could someone who has also applied to York tell me: What does your MyFile say? Does it say "No decision yet" or "No decision yet - under review"? I'm asking because I have a long history of my applications etc. being accidentally misplaced by office workers and such. ?
  10. I'm not sure whether my input is valuable here as I might not reapply to North American grad programs in case I don't get in this time around. My plan B is to just stay closer to home and apply to PhD programs here (which, unfortunately, are overly independent in terms of research and funding). Before applying to those PhD programs though, my more immediate options for the near future are to (1) look for jobs in my field (both domestically and internationally) and (2) send applications to master's programs in PolSci or economics. I'm echoing what someone mentioned earlier: German master's programs are basically free, so I think they are a very good option for people who don't have a lot of financial resources available to them. At least consider applying. By the way, as some of you mentioned that you'd like to strengthen your quantitative skills, how are you planning to do it? What do you think is the best way to achieve that goal? If you know of some resources etc., I would love to hear about them! Anyway, I hope we all get good news soon, so we can ditch these plans!
  11. Hi! @Interpretivist said that he was admitted to McGill last week. I suppose we will start hearing from other programs (hopefully) next week, though it's hard to say whether the pandemic is going to cause some delay.
  12. I actually applied only to York. I'm an international applicant outside North America, and I didn't want to move to a new continent for PhD programs that aren't absolutely perfect fits, so I didn't apply anywhere else. I'm interested in York because I'm very much into critical political economy (and critical theory as well). However, I know that York admits just a couple international students per cycle, so I know the competition is very tough. What made you apply to York, if you don't mind me asking? ?
  13. Haha, same! Let's keep our fingers crossed. Congrats on the acceptance, that's great news! And you're most likely right. I just can't stop checking my email and application portals. Well, it is what it is.
  14. Hi everyone! Have you received any results from Canada yet? I'm starting to get nervous. ?
  15. Now that I finally had the courage to figuratively open my mouth, I wanted to echo what so many others have already said: I really, really appreciate the positive attitude people have expressed here in this thread. Although I know that I won't be hearing about my own applications for a few weeks or so, it has been uplifting to read this thread and see the way you have supported, and continue to support, each other. I sincerely hope your spirit changes academia (which in its contemporary form often promotes individualistic, egoistic, and competitive values) for the better in the future. Good luck everyone!
  16. Hi! I applied to York as well, but I'm not sure if they email you about their decisions. At least you can check how your application did on their online system (MyFile). I've been checking the portal constantly ever since I submitted my application (lol), although I know it's most likely too early to hear from them. Looking at past trends, I suppose we will get the decisions late February or early/mid-March. (I hope I understood your question correctly, and wasn't just stating the obvious.) Best of luck!
  17. Has anyone received an acceptance from Oregon by chance? I noticed that some people got wait listed but not sure if the department already sent the acceptance letters, too. Getting kinda desperate. I now realize that I was overly optimistic, being a first time international applicant and all.
