  1. Accepted an offer at the University of Michigan last night. I'm thrilled!
  2. Just declined Cornell, UNC Chapel Hill, and UC San Diego last night. Good luck, everyone!
  3. Man, I withdrew my application from Indiana like 2 months ago and yet I still got an email rejection AND a formal rejection via snail mail. Seems a little like overkill, and while I'm sure it was due to a clerical error, it feels petty to double reject someone who already withdrew their application. Oh well.
  4. I originally received the Legal and Political Philosophy Scholarship, but declined GSU's offer of admission. So as far as I know, it's still available to someone. Good luck!
  5. I'm in the same boat with CUNY, haven't heard a thing. The same thing happened to me with Notre Dame though. I didn't hear anything for ages. And I ended up just getting rejected. So I don't know what to think! But good luck!
  6. I know clerical errors happen, but it is very inconsiderate that they wouldn't have double-checked to make sure everyone who applied received a response. Especially since they had so many issues with their application site. Because I started my application early, it was completely deleted when they updated their system. I had to start over entirely. Also, I should note that I didn't start my application absurdly early-- I just wanted to give my letter writers over a month to get their letters in. Also the recommendation portal on the application was broken anyway. The whole system this year was a bit of a mess at UCLA.
  7. I withdrew my application about a month ago, and the director of grad admissions responded to my email immediately with something to the effect of "well, just for the record, you were on our backup list." So yes, I think they have made decisions and would be more than willing to share your status with you if you contacted them.
  8. Do you think there will be more acceptances, or just waitlists and rejections?
  9. Man, that's...rough. I guess I'll be getting something to the same effect in a few minutes? I guess it's good that they're being honest?
  10. I'm also declining, so there is hope! Also, if you are on the wait list, I think that means you are a good fit and a strong candidate I think there is a good chance you'll get in! Good luck!
  11. I don't have any info about those programs, but I agree that making these plans is a ridiculous game. I live in the US, but in a rural area, and flights out of the local airport can be pricey. I'm trying to organize travel plans to visit a few campuses, but it's a mess because I booked flights to visit one school before I heard back from the other, and the dates overlap so I am trying to reschedule things which might be a mess. Plus the reimbursement limit is usually $500 (for domestic) and the absolute lowest cost ONE WAY to get to the second school I'm trying to get to is at least $560. Considering that I also have to find a way to take the extra time off of work, I don't know how feasible it'll be to visit. I didn't realize this would be such a difficult aspect of the process! I wish you the best of luck, though. I'm sure Harvard and UCLA have reimbursement budgets, and if they aren't offering enough to cover the full costs, you could try having a conversation with them about it to see if they'd be willing to provide some extra money, considering that the flights sound like they're currently very expensive. I've also heard of multiple programs splitting costs for international student travel to make it easier, so you could talk to them about that. So, for example, one school could pay for your ticket to the US, another could pay for your ticket home, and they'd split the cost of the domestic flight between the schools, or something like that. If, by some stroke of luck, you get another acceptance in the next few days for a program with a visit between those dates, that could be something you could discuss with them too.
  12. I saw two calls reported in the Facebook group! (Not to put you back on edge)
  13. Hahaha that is hilarious. The phrasing really did seem like they accepted six, but it would make more sense that they'd accept a few more in the interest of getting six to commit.
  14. Thank you! Two acceptances and three rejections so far, better than I could've hoped!
